I wanted to design a modern deck around cosmic larva. The support cards it ended up needing made the deck work well with low cost landfall creatures. This is what I came up with.

I saw Lavacore Elemental, which I'm guessing is the vanishing creature you mentioned. I was just worried about not managing to deal damage the turn it's played and losing it.
