Deck Description

*UPDATED* This is a pretty freakin nasty deck. It is straight up hate using isochron scepters. Goodluck getting around this one. I've never played a deck that can out-control this one.
Please give me comments and suggestions on other nasty things to do with isochron scepter.
*This is generally a multiplayer deck, but can also crush 1v1 it's just a little slower.*

Some of the awesome things:
With 2 temporal adepts I can return lands faster than they can play them
Isochron+into the roil kicked = card draw + return
Isochron+ Silence (or orim's chant) = can completely stop them.
Isochron + Memory lapse = force them to keep drawing the same thing
Isochron + Brainstorm = card draw like crazy, (the fetch lands help with reshuffle)
Isochron + any instant = awesome.

Deck discussion for Iso-Dick

Please give me comments to make this deck better.
Does isochron's ability count as playing that exiled card as a spell? If I did that with Arcane Laboratory out with that count as my spell?

pherixian metamorph is awesome for any iso-based deck. it can come in as a copy of iso so you indirectly beat the 4card limit. :P

however the car itself is quite expensive so idk if you would be willing to buy it (if you dont have it).... i know i wouldnt :/

Yes sadly I only have 1. Perhaps Ill throw it in for the finalized version of the deck since there are a couple other cards in here I currently don't own.

Cant decide what to drop to narrow to 60. Please help. Should I be playing 22 lands? And does isocrhons ability could as playing that exiled card and would it count as my spell with arcane laboratory?

Great name for a total DICK deck! LOL.
I would think that the Isochrons ability counts as your spell for the turn. Copy Artifact would be a cheap alternative to the Metamorph.
Good luck!

One other suggestion. replace Stalking Stones with Faerie Conclave. Much better man land.

0

idk... Stalking stones stays a creature even after the end of the turn. It also doesn't enter tapped.

Correct, but it also cost 6 to activate. Think of the other creatures you could cast for 6 mana. Wurmcoil??

aye but its also on the field already and I can only cast 1 spell per turn most of the games but that doesnt count man lands. You might be right tho. idk yet.

Rune Snag vs Mana Leak????

dude really!!! dick deck! i would play it for sure! u have all of those spells that u can keep plaing all the time cus they never leave the field. rune snag vs mana leak i would say mana leak unless u plan on playing 2 rune snags and isochron the one and play onther just to mess with them. but other then that dick deck dude ur a criminal master mind for even being able to think of a deck like this.

Arcane Laboratory doesn't work nearly as well as I thought it would. It can often end up screwing me over. Suggestions for what this deck is missing? It's good, just not quite there. I feel like until I get like 6-8 mana I can't control nearly as much as I'd like to. Please Help!

I agree about Arcane Laboratory. I think it backfires as much as it helps. Toss them and put Fatespinner main deck.

Yea i think you are right about the fate spinners. They get easily picked off if I dont have a counterspell at the ready so i'll have to be choosy about when I play it. But I'm also considering adding a couple phantasmal images in here but i'd have to drop a couple of control spells. suggestions?

I would change the Snaps to Boomerangs. If yoiu wanted to keep Arcane lab in you could just return it when needed, also so much more versitile than Snap. Only downside is its not a free spell.

Well I don't think I'd play boomerang. If I were to take out snap I'd ad 2 more into the roils I think. Opinion?

Would love to fit Kira, great glass spinner but idk if I play enough creatures to make it worth it.

I have a suggestion. Build decks that you can actually afford instead of making proxys of all your "cards".

I would play 4 brainstorm

0

You know, that would seem like a good idea but upon playing it I get a pretty good amount of card draw. Perhaps I'll try it. What would I drop for it?

0

i would cut some of the creatures

0

Well, I generally play 3-4 player multiplayer games with this deck. The creatures are ussually the win condition. Guile is my power card especially when I have a counter on isochron. Consecrated sphinx loads up my hand (great with reliquary tower). Lighthouse chronologists are soo amazing multiplayer.

I personaly am not a fan of Brainstorm. I remember when it came out in Iceage, and thought it was allmost as good as Ancestral Recall, but now Ponder, and Preordain are far better cards than Brainstorm.
Also as I have said before I think Boomerand is much more versitial than Snap. IMO

0

That statement is the most wrong thing i think ive heard in a while. Ponder and preordain are main phase, socery cards. Brainstorm can protect you from a hymn or a thoughtseize, any discard spell, really. Brainstorm can be cast any time as well, so you dont have to waste mana on your turn to ponder or preordain. You get enough shuffle effects with fetchlands, you should need to waste a mana that could be held up for spell snare just to look at the top three cards of your library and draw one. Brainstorm at the end of their turn, instead, bro.

Andy is right. Stand alone, ponder or preordian MIGHT be better, sometimes. But with fetch lands or other shuffle effects brainstorm is considerably better.

Thanks for the comment!

I like the idea of Snap being for free! I do really think that Boomerang is better though since it can bounce lands back and keep someone completely locked up (Boomerang is usually the first thing I imprint on Iso if I can.) Swords to Plowshares can deal with just about any creature your opponent plays (if you even let them play one!)

I'm glad to see you have Memory Lapse in here! A lot of people don't pay enough attention to that card. It is absolutely crazy with Iso! Another card you may be interested in is Remand. I use it and Memory Lapse exclusively as my counters in my Iso deck (no Counterspells!) Why no hard counters? Because you don't need hard counters if you're going for a lock ;)

Check out my Iso-Horny deck for Legacy if you'd like some ideas! It's quite a bit more expensive, but I've given a budget run-down in the description to make it MUCH cheaper.

Good building!

I don't play white, but Orim's chant is my favorite card ever for isochron. So sick.

0

Silence may actually work in a mono blue Iso, so I'd have to suggest it aswell. Orim's Chant, on the other hand, can't be kicked, so it doesn't have full potential.

0
Posted 07 November 2011 at 08:48

Yes, Silence is better in this deck than Orim's Chant since it is ALL opponents (slightly better for multiplayer) and you can't kick Orim's, plus Silence is much cheaper.

That being said, white is worth running in Iso decks simply for Enlightened Tutor and Orim's Chant. I forgot to post the link to my deck in my last post so you could check it out, so here it is!

That is pretty nasty. I agree with putting in silence I have a friend with a
werewolf deck with 4 isochron scepters and i think 2 silence. Without fail
he seems to get it out by the second turn.

0

I'm actually really considering those 2 silences / Orim chants. I might throw in 4 glacial fortresses in case I need to hard cast (or pay kicker). And I'm trying to think of the proper time to play it. Would I play it during their upkeep before their draw so they don't really get time to respond? Keep in mind this deck is multiplayer, so I'm still a little torn.

0

So i dropped 1 scalding tarn, and 3 islands for 4 glacial fortresses and -2 snaps for +2 orim's chant. How does that look? Looking forward to a playtest now.

It would be pretty sweet to be able to pop down an isochron turn 1. but.... idk. More colorless mana and lower chances. I don't feel it.

0

Okay well, I'm putting Silence main board as it effects ALL opponents, Orim's chant will be side board since it is only 1 opponent as this is geared for multiplayer.

have you thought about maye a grand abolisher or 2? force it so even if they *can* cast an instant, it couldn't happen on your turn xD

Haha, that would be amazing 1v1. Grand abolisher for my turn, silence for there turn. Doesn't fit into this deck, but epic idea still. Thanks.
