Deck Description

Rat Deck, nothing fancy, a bit larger than normal. I figure if you are going to go with this type of deck, It being a bit larger than 60 is not going to be a hindrance.

My issue with cryptic gateway in this deck is that it is the highest mana cost spell in the deck. By the time you get it out most of the rats in your hand will be on the field and you'll be able to hard cast anything you top deck. Pestilence rats and plauge rats are essentially less efffective than just relentless rats in a deck with only relentless rats. I would highly suggest making this deck solid relentless rats and add in four thrumming stones over the cryptic gateways. Thrumming stone breaks the relentless rat. Take a look at my relentless rat deck if you would like to see one. It consistently wins on turn 5 and is one of the most despised decks to play against in my friend group. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=205507

You are 100% right about the Thrummingrats....I've used it before and it is absolutely horrible to go against. I was actually leaving it out to depower the deck some. I know it sounds stupid, but the people i play against are nowhere near as good as the Tourney players i played against before i moved. This deck is meant just to provide some decent power without being anything too serious. Good call though.

I would make this deck straight relentless rats, and then add in a bunch of removal spells. Go for the throat, Doom blade, Murder, etc.

I would, and that would be more effective, very true....But check out my earlier comment as to why i don't do it. Thanks for the good advice though, Its appreciated :)

I feel like muck rats is pointless, it does nothing but inoptimize your draw, and typhoid rats feels unnecessary because nothing else has infect. Taking them out, your gateways, and a few lands, and maybe putting in sign in bloods and night's whispers could help the deck without necessarily turning it into an anti-fun (without mass removal, that is) relentless rats deck. Fun concept though, you have my upvote.

Muck rats could be replaced by just about anything really, your right about that. Ill think about the other two, see how it goes. Cryptic Gateway is a bit expensive, but its really just there to make absolute sure i can always play a rat, no matter what. Thanks for the vote, and comment :)
