Deck Description

I stumbled upon this by accident. It's a fun little combo I found with Prototype Portal. You can imprint the Artifact Lands or a 0 drop artifact onto it and then make a free one every turn. Now, how do we use that to our advantage? Like this.

P.S: I know there are cards that would make this deck extremely more effective and I know what they are. But I wanted to make a cheap modern deck that still ran smoothly. I think I've done just that. Thanks everyone.

How to Play

There are 3 mill cards in the deck and those are Hedron Crab, Altar of the Brood, and finally, the most important, Grinding Station. These are all more or less powerful mill permanents. The cards that fire the deck the rest of the way are Prototype Portal and Dross Scorpion. By imprinting a 0 drop creature, you can tap Prototype Portal and make a copy for free. Tossing it into the Grinding Station and milling them for 3 hurts, but then Dross Scorpion untaps the Portal. Now you make another one and it untaps the Grinding Station. Rinse and Repeat.

Alternativly, you can do it the hard way if you get a Hedron Crab or two. If you happen to have a Darksteel Citadel in your hand and feel like imprinting it, you can now tap to get a new land. This can also be ground up and get the combo going but if a piece is missing, thats still at least 3 cards a turn on a clock.

There aren't many high mana costs in the deck, but decks like this tend to thieve on speed. Spring Leaf Drum helps by making your pretty much useless 0 drop dude into a mana dork. (With haste if needed) Grand Architect also helps with that. Tapping himself or the crabs for colorless mana to toss out the artifacts in the deck, it can really help pump out pieces faster. If you happen to have a Pili-Pala out with the Architect, and the Pili-Pala isn't sick anymore, make Pili-Pala blue with the Architects ability, then tap him for colorless. Now use that mana to untap himself and add one of any color to your mana pool. Boom, infinite mana of any color.
