Now on a serious note, the deck works by casting animar and then building his 2nd ability up by casting lots of low cost creatures. Using Aether vial, planar gate, and affinity for artifacts (Nicely provided by mycosynth golem) will make casting more creatures for free, easier. Then when you have enough +1/+1 counters on Animar, and the other cost reduction spells, you cast Platinum Emperion. Sorry for the lengthy description... ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Actually because paying life is the cost of untapping him and your life can't change, you can not pay the price to untap him. That is my understanding of it anyway. Someone can correct me if I am wrong.
you are correct. paying the life is a cost and if u cant pay the cost because of your life not being able to change then the cost cant be paid. cant overrules can in magic.

This remembers me a deck I made some time ago. Take a look at it for some input: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=148380 Also remember that creatures that enters the game with Æther Vial doesn't add counters to Animar, cause they're being put directly in the game not being cast.
While that is true, this deck doesnt really care, its about free creatures... which is what Æther vial does.
