Deck Description

So, there's a bit of a story behind this deck. See, my friend hate the card Delver of Secrets. Loathe it. But I really wanted to make a budget tempo deck for a budget (<50$) modern tournament some friends were holding. With a lack of good wincons that weren't delver, I was trawling through the Gatherer Random Card Database when I found Nivmagus Elemental, and it was love at first sight.

How to Play

Well, this certainly isn't a conventional delver deck. For a start, it doesn't even run delver! Instead, we rely on Nivmagus Elemental as a "power card". In the early game, we ideally play t1 Nivmagus, then play a t2 Isochron Scepter, tacking a Lightning bolt onto it.
From there, our versatility is just unlimited. We leave mana up each turn, and at end of turn, we can feed an Iso Scepter copy to Nivmagus, making him stronger, or we can just plain leave mana up to shoot something down, counter their spells...

It's a weird tempo deck, but a fun one to play.

Deck discussion for Delverless Delver

I'm gonna suggest Delver of Secrets, He would fit perfectly in this deck! Not sure if you considered him or not. (LOL this is a joke BTW)

Oh, I'd considered him, but I felt the ability was a little underpowered, especially in formats like modern and legacy :p
