Have been designing a couple of super basic (and super budget) decks to teach with.This one is based on defender and pinging. I made sure to keep a pretty basic mana curve and try to include all different basic types of cards. Having some of everything (Creature, Instant, Sorcery, Enchantment, Artifact) to help teach with. It has a solid mana curve and some basic card draw mechanics. For a theme I snagged every budget red pinger I could find. Also have a super simple sideboard to swap Scarecrow add some ramping if needed and the Bulwark to add defense if necessary.Not perfect but fun and simple.
The ping is real!4 Thermo Alchemist, 4 Vent Sentinel, 4 Wall of Forgotten Pharoahs, 3 Spear Spewer, 1 Honden of Infinite Rage, 4 Sunscorched Desert, and 2 Ramunap Ruins. So 22 out of 60 total cards can ping in some capacity (and all but Sunscorched Desert can do it multiple times).The rest is to support that. All defenders for Vent, Battle Rampart to let a pinger use its ability when it comes in, Furious Resistance for sneaky blocking, Chariot for sneaky attacking. Desert of the Fervent and Magmatic Insight obviously to add a little card draw as well as increase number of available Deserts to fuel Ramunap Ruins and Wall of Forgotten Pharoahs.
