Deck discussion for Standard Vampire

Hey Boss. You have a solid base for Vampire creeps here. However one of the biggest aspects of a good Vampire Deck is speed. I used to have Piranha Marshes in my deck, but I realized they slow down your deck alot. The 4x Piranha Marshes is slowing you down by another 4 rounds before you can fully utilize the mana from them. So swap those for another 4x Swamp. Possibly bring your lands to 33.33% or 1/3'rd of your deck.

As far as the Doom Blades & then the Deathmark in the sideboard, those are kinda' color specific, so you might wanna' switch 'em out for a generalization as far as destroy creature or something that makes them sacrifice a creature themselves so color isn't covered. This looks pretty good so far and actually has the basis for a decent discard deck if you were to follow up on a Vamp/Discard theme. So if you wanted to do that, maybe a Liliana's Caress thrown in in place of the Doom Blades or something. For example using Sign in Blood to make someone keep drawing cards, then they discard, then blast 'em w/ Suffer the Past.

You also have a couple things that would be nice for a chance to proc Blood Ascension, which can be hella-dangerous. Alot of people don't fully utilize Blood Ascension for the full potential it has. It can be the game-breaker in tournaments as well; sadly though not alot of people focus on it as much as they should.

You have a great deck goin' for ya' so far, but like I said I'd maybe shy away from the color-specific cards. But well done boss, I'm givin' ya 8.9 stars on this badboy.

I have a Vamp deck, it's beefier than 60 cards, but works hella' fast. I'd love some input/comments/rating on itif you wouldn't mind. It's not Standard for format, but it's strong as all get out.

Again, check it out. Might get some ideas bud. But goodjob on yours!

-Captivating Vampire is garbage, Bloodghast is amazing, Nocturnus is phasing out of T2 unfortunately.
-Doom Blade is amazing, sideboard Feast of Blood for BvB.
-Anowon is an easy lightning bolt away from being a 5 drop for nothing.
-24 lands is standard for a 60 card deck, especially with 12 4+ drops.
-Piranha Marsh is really slow, it can be like giving them a Time Warp for 1 life.
-Mire's toll is okay but to be completely effective you need to be late game. I'd say Duress is a better 1 drop and for late game Mind Sludge, nothing like forcing a top deck on turn 5.

I'd drop Anowon, 1 Consuming Vapors, Mire's Toll, Piranha Marsh, 1 Sign in Blood. Add 2 Mind Sludge, 4 Bloodghasts and 6 Swamps.

Almost forgot, Marsh Flats/Verdant Catacombs are really great to thin out lands from your deck, sucks to draw lands meta game, and proc Bloodghast if you add him.

Actually, the minimal amount of land on a deck for optimal chances of draw before you hurt your chances is 33.33%. Alot of people recommend for starters building their own decks to stick w/ the 20-20-20 rule. 20 lands, 20 creatures, 20 spells. Other, more intermediate builders say to stick w/ the 24-24-12 rule. 24 creeps, 24 lands, 12 spells. Now obviously this can be changed around to suit your preference or the design of a certain deck.

But yeah, agreeing w/ Zone, like I originally said it needs to be sped up a bit. So remove the special lands to atleast boost the speed.

Thanks for the input guys. I was planning to have Bloodghast originally, but they are mad expensive... :/

Probably going to drop the piranha marshes, and i totally forgot about mind sludge.

Anyone have ideas on what I can swap out Anowyn for? Other than Bloodghast? I guess I could probably make everything else 4x.

Kalitas is always a decent choice. Or Blood Seekers to keep your opponent from pullin' too many creeps/tokens out. If you want a solid combat Vampire, think old school; Skyshroud Vamp w/ Flying.

You have a decent deck here, but maybe just drop him for 2x Equipment, somethin' to keep buffin' your other Vamps. Lightning Greaves are sick-fast for Vamp decks, etc. & other combat-related gear.

Normally I would use those other cards, however, I am trying to keep this deck standard. Lightning Greaves are sick though, I would probably stick those in if i was playing casually with friends. Kalitas seems like a good idea, but man, I wish I had some bloodghasts. :[

Whatever you do, do not put Blood Seekers in this deck.
