Main Deck (99 cards)

Sideboard (1 card)

Creatures (1)

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

Aladdin themed deck with theft cards, Djinns, flying carpets, a lamp and desert-related cards.

I tried to keep the $ cost as low as possible.

How to Play

The only Jasmine was of the wrong color for an Aladdin EDH deck. Jhoira can help a lot with he ludicrous man cost of the lamp, the ring and other cards.

You have all you need to steal cards from your opponents.

Deck discussion for Aladdin's tale - EDH

I love themes like this and always make decks like these ones: bravo !
If you would not keep the costs as low as possible, which cards would you include ? And which to scrap ?

Cheers

To be quite honest I wasn't really looking at the cost and overall I'm happy with what is there.
It may not appear but I tend to put the theme before power. Some may agree/like, some may dislike/disagree.

About changes. If you want to boost the effectiveness I would drop most special lands beside Command tower and replace them with dual lands. Haven't played the real (I've sold my cards years ago and went to the online game) game in quite a while but back in the days, Volcanic Island wasn't cheap for your wallet. I doubt the recent ones have the same price tag but they can't be cheap.

Simply adding dual lands will exponentially increase the price of the deck.

If you look at the instants some classics are more powerful but I went for the theme (or close to it ) first.
You can switch Searing Spear with the timeless classic Lightning Bolt. Final Fortune does the job at getting you an extra turn at a cheap cost but its drawback leaves no place for mistake or miscalculation. There are some blue cards that offer the same ability with a less important drawback: http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Search/Default.aspx?name=+[extra]+[turn]||text=+[extra]+[turn]

Time Walk is banned in EDH though but that would be the closest option, mana wise.

If you look at the creatures, most wouldn't make your top 50 or even your top 100 all time but they fit the theme. So, you could make some changes. There are many blue and red creatures that can have an impact on the game for half the mana cost of nearly all I listed above. A favorite of mine is Fog Bank, because it gives a decent defense at a cheap cost even if it has some shortcomings.

Strategy wise, Memnarch could make Aladdin ridiculously effective but theme wise I don't see Memnarch fit in.

If you're lucky and you can get him out early, Taurean Mauler can become a big problem really fast unless taken down by a Lightning Bolt or Terror (yes, I like old cards). Tephraderm can also be a pain to your opponents.

For the artifacts you could pretty much do a clean sweep. The only 2 I like to have in nearly every deck possible are Crawlspace and Elixir of Immortality (replaced Feldon's Cane) because both were, usually not at the same time but overall, lifelines I had in many games to make a comeback. You can dismiss them if you want, that's just my personnal experience.

If you want to get more cards to steal stuff, Bribery is a nice one but it's not cheap.

Kaervek's torch may not be the best at what it does but it screws the guys who keep just enough mana to play counters or redirect spells.

This is what I got from the top of my mind right now. In the end all I did was provide a blueprint, the final product is yours.
