Deck Description

This is as close as I can get to a legacy merfolk deck without breaking my wallet. Right now I am playing this deck in vintage where I live because we can use proxy cards so i am able to try this deck out before I spend a lot of money.

Deck discussion for GP Leg. Merfolk

To be honest, I think Foil is a terrible replacement for Force of Will. Huge card disadvantage and situational. You'd be better off putting counterspell. You could also maindeck echoing truth, and replace the Sovereigns and Wake Thrashers with Coralhelm commander. Check out my Legacy Merfolk if you want. :)

I see what you mean with Foil vs. Force of Will and I love counterspell, but Foil lets me tap out and still be able to counter something. I may drop two foil for to counter spell or something. I am not dropping the wake thrasher as he can become a very large creature very quickly. I thought about that commander but you have to invest mane in him to level him up.

But foil needs to discard an Island which is situational. I prefer Corahelm because of flying and Wake Thrasher makes a terrible blocker.

I see what you mean. I am aloud to have 16 proxy cards for vintage were I play. What would you suggest I proxy for this deck.
