Deck Description

Just always liked Elephant and Rhino creatures for some reason. Decided to splash a little Blue in order to get Mirror-Sigil Sergeant in there. I like it a lot.

Would probably be a little bit better without the blue permanents, but I really like it and I'm not trying to win tourneys anyways.

You could of course make this deck faster by adding shock lands and such, but the mana base in this deck is not bad and it saves you a bundle by not having them.

How to Play

Pretty straightforward, get those medium sized guys out there as quickly as possible (Loxodon Smiter on turn two is pretty radical) and start beating face. Behemoth Sledges for the lifegain and trample.

Rhox and Mirror-Sigil Sergeant are there in case they were able to survive the early onslaught, and if you've got one of those blue enchantments out prepare to be rewarded with more Sergeants.

Deck discussion for Rhinos and Elephants

Overall, it looks good, I like it.

That said, I read that you were aware that blue splash is hurting it, and I agree. The mirror sigil just doesn't seem worth it when there are other great green or white rhinos and elephants, and other better enchantments. These 3 creatures stood out to me.

Loxodon Gatekeeper
Rhox Faithmender
Rhox Pikemaster

Other cards were Dawnglow Infusion and Elephant Guide.

Also, I noticed you're using a Behemoth Sledge. Armadillo Cloak is often considered slightly better, due to the fact that the life gain is tied to the aura not the creature and no equip fee.

Hey man, would really like to thank you for the feedback. I knew when I made this deck that it would probably perform better if I kept it just White/Green, but mirror-sigil sergeant is just a fun card and the fact that he is also a rhinoceros is just too strong of a temptation for me to keep him out.

Rhox Faithmender also stuck out to me as a great card that fit my theme, I just didn't know if I had enough lifegain in the deck to make him more valuable then the other stuff I threw in.

Also felt a strong pull for Gatekeeper, but again I felt like the ability of the Dauntless Escorts and Heirarchs to protect my other creatures were more valuable then the delay Gatekeeper would cause my opponents.

You definitely make a great point about Armadillo Cloak/Unflinching Courage and if you're reading this comment you'll probably notice that I've updated the decklist as per your advice.

Again, thanks friend.

This "desk" is also pretty easy on the wallet if you take out the Breeding Pools and Sunpetal Groves, just a bit slower.

My inner grammar Nazi couldn't contain itself. :P

No i just generalize the term, but good job picking that up on me.

Haha, damn. Getting that changed to deck.

@Unforeseen, any thoughts on the deck itself? I think I usually have pretty interesting themes to build decks around, but of course I'm a little biased.

I like the idea, i haven't personally seen alot of Elephant themed decks so its a nice refresher. I'm not entirely sure what Paradox Haze is there for. And i am biased against Enchant Creatures, i'd probably use Overrun in its place if it were me.

I splashed 8 blue permanents for Mirror-Sigil Sergeant, whenever I control him and a blue permanent I get to make a copy of him every upkeep. I figured why not have a couple of those blue permanents give me an extra upkeep. And since they're the only two cards in the deck that require an island I think I'm doing okay.

Yah Paradox Haze isn't helping, if you're going to stay with the blue splash maybe something like Reparations would be better.

Not helping? Each token that's a copy of Mirror-Sigil Sergeant will also create its own copies on my upkeep. Paradox Haze increases the amount of copies by an exponential amount.

Again, I mentioned it in the deck description, this deck would most surely be more consistent if I took the blue out completely. But the Sergeant is just too fun not to include because he fits my theme, so with him in the deck I feel Paradox Haze is also too good not to run a couple copies of.

With only 2 of each, you aren't going to see them both often, maybe focus on that synergy more then. What about going to 3 Mirror-Sigil, 3 Paradox Haze, and dropping to 2 Rhox, and 2 curse of chains?

P.S. Armadillo Cloak is still better than Unflinching Courage.
