Deck discussion for Oh no... the virus is airborne.

You think of adding Contagion Clasp and/ Contagion Engine to help with the proliferate?
Otherwise I like the concept of the deck :p

Contagion Clasp, maybe for the counter/creature removal... Contagion Engine is a little expensive and I don't anticipate the board wipe it gives being very useful (since, if I'm playing right, they should only have a creature or two out before I take them away anyway).

What about Steady Progress? That card draw is kinda nice...

I like it. It's a very unique idea without question. I would take out 2 Tides and 2 Corrupted Cons. For what, I'm not sure...but I think cutting down on those for less expensive things would help out.

The Tides are kinda important... That's where I'm hoping the main proliferating will come from.

Corrupted Conscience... I just love love llloooove the look on peoples' faces when they finally get a creature through without it being countered and then I take it away and add infect... Warms my heart :-)

But I will cut one of each... I need room for a couple other things.

If you are going to add in archmage you need more draw. IMO archmage is worthless for a 3 drop. Perhaps with proliferate it may be useful, but not sure.

Also I would replace Disperse with Into the Roil as its exactly the same but lets you kick for a card draw.

I only have one Archmage for that reason... if I have it and a card that lets me draw (Divination, Steady Progress, and now, thanks to you, Into the Roil) I only need one counter on it. Proliferate will do the work after that.

Since you are just using proliferate to proliferate infect try using decimator web, for the same mana as contagion clasp you get him to loose 2 lives (not much of a deal here), 1 poison counter, and 6 cards of the top of his deck (usefull in every deck)

as far as mana goes i think you should -1 island -1 darkslick -2 swamp +4 drowned catacomb, you need next to know black mana in this deck. this helps you to get more blue and not lose all you black

Cool idea. I didn't thnk corrupted concious would be good, but this deck makes that card shine. Most of the things i thought of were adressed in earlier comments, an example being i thought archmage ascension didn't fit, but then i realized you have alot of proliferate.

One of the things i thought of, was clone. Idk if the rules allow it, but could you clone whatever creature you corrupted and have the clone gain infect as well?

I thought that you could kill a 1/1 with Virulent wound to give an opponent a poison counter on turn 1 or 2, proliferate a bit to get some counters, pop down corrupted concious to take control of a fatty, then next turn throw down neurok invisimancer for a direct attack. I guess distortion strike would achieve the same thing, but i was questioning the necessity of spells that make creatures unblockable if you already have alot of bounce spells.

I don't think so... If you clone a creature with an enchantment on it, it doesn't usually gain the enchantment, does it?

It's funny you say all that about how to play this deck... This deck is almost identical to a control/merfolk deck I was using (lots of counters + lullmage mentor and some other merfolk to eventually get enough merfolk out that your opponent can never play anything). I just took out all the merfolk, swapped in a few proliferate cards, and this is how it came out.

I'm thinking of doing another one that is the same, but using Necrogen Censor and Countersquall for direct damage without the infect bit. Know of any other black/blue counter or bounce type spells that deal direct damage?

I like profane command. It lets you kill indestructable creatures (i think, since it doesn't destroy or deal damage), and burn an opponent at the same time. Paired with cabal coffers or twincast, it can get you a win pretty easy.

Dash hopes either counters a card or does damage.

In exchange for what? I've got 8 proliferate cards, 6 (somewhat) removal cards (all of them facilitate placing poison counters on creatures, and getting more counters on creatures or opponents), 4 bounce cards, 12 cards that give me card draw, and 10 counter spells...

The Clasps, while somewhat helpful, still cost 4 mana to activate and do nothing for the win condition, which is getting counters on the opponent... Same for the Engine. The Engine does give me some boardwipe, and a prollferate twice ability... at a TOTAL cmc of 10 mana to get it's full potential one time... Or I could play a Tide, and then reap the benefits of proliferating while countering and bouncing my opponents spells and creatures...

And since the last couple blocks have been artifact heavy, I'm sure artifact removal is gonna be a standard in a lot of decks.

you need to run tezzy 2.0 for this deck you can make inkmoth nexus and Contagion Clasp a 5/5 creature that would make it better

I can see Tezz working for the Inkmoths, but the Contagion Clasp wouldn't have infect, which would be a bit of a waste of his ability to use it on something that isn't fueling the overall goal of the deck... And I don't think i'm running enough artifacts to make his first or last ability worthwhile... But you did give me another idea for another deck... Stay tuned :-)

Fuel for the Cause man! You need the counterspell that proliferates! It's solid... sure it's 4 mana, but it's still a proliferate ability with the added bonus of countering their stuff. Also, check out my Tezzerator deck and tell me what you think =)

Maybe add the new Black destory creature + Proliferate card. Cant remember its name atm. Although, the CMC is kinda high. But its a removal with proliferate.

I've thought about it... And it is a little expensive... But it would help and would use some more black mana (making the spalsh a little more balanced)... I'm missing a few cards and need to fully recreate this so I can play test.

If you wanna toss in more creatures, drop the Clasps 2 Into the Roil and swap in Thrummingbird... Makes proliferate faster and more creature based, but you lose some control.

And thanks for play testing! I don't own all the cards yet (being broke sucks) so I haven't been able to play it.

Alright so after looking at this deck, I decided I wanted to try it out.
Freakin' kicks ass bro. Counters out of the anus, and controlling a Blightsteel or some crap is always fun, especially with Corrupted Conscience..

Very nice deck bro.

Oh yeah, just ONE little thing I noticed. The only black card in this deck is Virulent Wound. Just a bit too bad that you aren't taking advantage of the black color. Like said a few comments above, Tezz' would be a great idea. Maybe Go for the Throat?

I feel like you have too many sources of proliferate and not enough sources of actual infect counters. You're completely relying on inkmoths, corrupted conscience, and virulent wound for poison counters, and virulent wound's -1/-1 send many creatures to the graveyard. Proliferate is worthless without poison counters!

This isn't about speed, it's about a set up condition followed by control. All I need is 1 counter and an inexorable tide and the rest sets itself up. If I don't have the means of getting 1 or both of those things going off the bat, control + Ascension for the ability to pick and choose my card draw in the late game.

Also, I've got 8 cards that can give the opponent counters, and another 2 that can take a creature from them and deal counters. 10 cards out of a 60 card deck means, on average, 1 counter giving card out of every 6 cards. I should have one in my opening hand, or one following shortly after.

I have considered mainboarding in Doom Blade or Go for the Throat since I can use those cards as removal and a means of getting a stronger Virulent Wounded creature into the graveyard and using the Black mana to a fuller potential.

I like the concept: sit behind your walls and countermagic until they get something cool, snatch it from them, and then beat their face in with poison counters from their own fattie. Very cool, although what happens when you go against another infect deck? They tend to be faster, especially the green ones, and the black ones have enough evasion to make your walls quite meaningless. Also walls really don't like having -1/-1 counters placed on them.

Now, what would really be annoying is if this was WU, and if you had Venser to reset your walls in the mirror match. Since walls don't care about summon sickness, you could easily hide behind them if you didn't have to worry about them dying to infect critters.

This deck will be week against creature based decks... like Infect and stompy. I'm sideboarding Doom Blade and Go for the Throat for creature removal to slow those decks down, and if they have no flying protection, I'll swap out some Fuel for the Cause, a couple Negates, and Archmage Ascension for Thrummingbirds and a couple more Corrupted Consciences to speed up the proliferating and counter deliverance.

Thanks bud! Me too... I've been trying to come up with a few others lately as well... Direct damage infect (kind of like infect burn, I guess), a sac infect deck, and (this is based on the typical infect decks, just designed a little different) a turn 1 infect deck are a couple I just put up on the site if you wanna check them out. A few others are in the works...

I love infect, and the power of it is pretty impressive and easy to exploit... People just get caught up in exploiting it in the easiest way possible... Can't blame them for being human :-)

I'd mana leak over negate, especially since you aren't maining any creature removal, you should have more ways to counter creatures. Also, as for weird infect concepts, I've also been trying a few- mostly based around livewire lash. Let me know if you have any ideas for these:
