Deck discussion for Esper Control

This looks pretty sound but I have just one question. Why is Ashiok in the main deck? I know he's strong against control decks, but I don't think the format is slow enough for him to be worth putting in the main. Maybe put in the thoughtseize or devour flesh in the main over him. He just fails too hard in aggro match-ups.

I cannot disagree with your assessment, what I was finding at the time was allot of midrange decks were being played, Ashiok is a really good early threat that they have to try and deal with, Turn 3 Ashiok against Against RG monsters is actually really strong. So the reason he is there is for a better game 1 win chance

If I was in the aggro matchup Ashiok was the first card to go, that and the counter spells, Thunes and blood barons in and likely devour flesh depending on what they had shown me in game one

After you explain it make sense now. I can see why he's in the main.
