I have been tinkering a bit and decided I might try to build this deck for Modern. However I would love some input from you guys, to see if you got a good idea for optimization. Card choices: Archwing Dragon: Dodges sorcery speed removal and is a nice win condition. Zealous Conscripts: Very useful for turning the tide of the battle, the three toughness makes them dodge pyroclasm and whipflare. Koth: Useful as a win condtion or to fuel a gigantic earthquake in case of emergency Chandra: Mainly used for the ping ability. The card is also useful for making cards as pyroclasm and slagstrom useful lategame. The ultimate is a good sweeper/win condtion as well, but is not counted on. Flamebreak, pyroclasm, whipflare and slagstorm: For roasting all those annoying creatures. Lightning Bolt: Sometimes Targeted removal at instant speed is needed... Shattering Spree: Replacing whipflare vs affinity and is a card I wouldn't want the match-up without. Tormod's Crypt: Reset button for a goyf or knight of the reliquary is always good. Leyline of Punishment: There are decks out there that likes preventing damage or gaining life. As a red mage we cannot have that.

I think youre high on your land count. With nothing over a cc of 5, you could probably drop to 22 without incident. Also, consider Browbeat and Magma Jet, both are modern legal and will offer some draw or card quality. Hope these ideas help.
