Deck Description

It's time for a duel deck I've been planning out for a while now! After recreating both decks numerous times, Rakdos and Azorius finally clash! Which guild will win the war for the streets?

Plot:

The cries of men and women fill the air. You and your partner, Delvix, have already sent word to your fellow officers of the Azorius Senate, and are meeting up with them near Foundry Street to investigate a public disturbance gone wrong. As you meet up with the others, Delvix takes charge, like usual. Your partner is a born leader, if not a little headstrong. But, so far, it hasn't gotten him into too much trouble. The situation appears to be another Rakdos riot, but this time many innocents were severely injured...or worse. Delvix commands one of the group to call for backup and takes lead as you all walk into a bloody mess. What was once a tavern is now a red room of death and body parts. A few small fires bring dim light to the scene, as a group of odd looking carnival freaks pick up god knows what. When they notice the your team, a masked man arises and looks at you, the obvious leader among them. Delvix pulls out his badge and says, ""By the power of the Azorius Senate, we hereby place all of you lowlifes under arrest for crimes against Ravnica! Drop your weapons and put your hands over your heads now!!"

The masked brute gives the finger to one of his lackeys and then approaches Delvix with his hand extended, stating, "Whoa, whoa, whoa, my good gentlemen and women, let's not get bent out of shape here! We did nothing of any sort of 'criminal activity,' we're just street performers! Let's be reasonable here, you just get out of our way, and we don't have to get violent!"

Delvix stands his ground, but you wish he would hurry up and detain the psycho before he did something crazy. He gives the cultist one more chance, replying, "Get back, you sick freak! I will not repeat myself! Hands on your heads now!!"

The masked man doesn't back off, and Delvix hits him hard with a Inaction Injuction spell, locking up most of the man's upper body. The masked madman merely laughs, where you can tell irritates Delvix, as he makes the mistake of getting closer to the cultist. "What's so funny, criminal? Did you lost your mind when you realized this wasn't a joke?"

The cultist keeps laughing and says, "Oh, but officer, it is a joke. A big joke! You see, you think you've caught me and have triumphed here, but my friend, this party is just getting started. The guests just haven't arrived! So until they do, we can't have you doing anything funny, because that's our job, you see?" The masked villain drops to a knee, and a goblin flies in the air lunging at Delvix, cutting his face in two. Terror seizes you, and in moments, there is fire, screams, and steel flying around in chaos. The masked man has you in his sights, and out of instinct, you run. As the chase goes on, you realize that the reinforcements are almost here, and take to a roof, hoping a Skyknight will catch sight of you two and lend assistance against this murderous madman. You turn to face him, charging up a spell behind your back. "You realize all of the Senate is coming to end this in a few moments right? Face it, this little game was over before it began!" you shout confidently.

The murderer laughs and replies, ""That's what the Ringleader wanted, dimwit. That's why we let you catch us, you fool! So we can begin the greatest murder show in all of Ravnica....The Slaughter of the Senate!!!" The reality of the situations kicks in...this was a trap! For the good of Ravnica, you cannot fail here!

How to Play

The Cult of Rakdos has launched a murderous rampage in the streets of Ravnica in an attempt to cripple the Senate by killing off many of it's members! It's up to you to bring this rampage to a halt and defeat the forces of insanity and chaos! The Cultists are going to come in swinging, so start sending out creatures to defend yourself! Most of your early creatures come with defensive abilities, so don't be afraid to play them instead of your control spells first! The plan is to hold off the Cultists long enough to get your Flying taskforce up and running to sweep down and claim victory, so early game survival is crucial to your success! Search Warrant early on helps keep you alive longer and let's you peek at your upcoming threats, so use it early for maximum effect! If you need to, don't second guess the need to use a detain sorcery to keep you alive for another turn during early game, it could mean the difference of victory and defeat! By the time mid game comes around, you should start setting up your flying officers and have your hands on a powerful counter spell, so use it wisely. By the time the Cultist's aggression calms down, you should have a sizable flying attack force, so begin the counter attack, but always keep a few officers on guard in case the cultists can launch a surprise haste creature and potentially take a chunk out of your life. Late game is where you stride between you and the cultists. By late game you have a large flying force ready to finish off the Rakdos cultists, as well as possibly the mighty Pride of the Clouds, whose strength increase with the size of your flying team! The most important thing to keep in mind is that you are never truly safe from the Rakdos attack, so play carefully as to not fall for a kill spell or waste a valuable counter. It may look bad at the moment, but they could always have someone bigger and badder in hand.
