Deck Description

Is EDH too expensive for you? Wanna play a fun deck that doesn't cost a fortune? Then allow me to introduce you to....Poor Man's EDH. For under $75 you can own a cool, powerful, and fun EDH deck that isn't too limited. It appears as though 5 color commanders really push that budget hard, and the Hivelord is no exception, as the commander or the deck. Unlike Atogatog, most of the price is in your creatures, which can hinder your other areas sometimes, but Slivers are pretty good at finding ways to stay productive, so this deck actually functions surprisingly well! Enjoy!

How to Play

Deep within the Sliver Hive rest the Hivelord, the source of all Slivers, one of the most feared species in the Planes. Now, awaken the Hive and unleash Slivers across the Planes in order to spread your territory! Slivers are a unique species, each Sliver brings a new ability to the fight. This gives you one of the most versatile decks in the game, with the ability to have a mass of abilities to just outlast everyone else and let the Hive engulf them! Some powerful Slivers rest in the deck, from Predatory Slivers pumping everyone up to Shadow Sliver giving your slivers the shadow ability! Your army only gets better with each new member, which is the core of your victory, being creature heavy deck. Slivers are deadly in numbers, more than Elves, Goblins, or any other species!

Other than Slivers, your deck is a toolbox of cards. You have a bit of mana ramp cards, some tutor cards, and some removal cards as well! With a variety of creatures comes a variety of other spells, and your deck is filled with cards for every occasion! An artifact or enchantment causing too many problems? Naturalize it! A planeswalker too close to using their ultimate ability or a creature that has to go? Dreadbore it! Indestructible creature causing mayhem? Utter End it! The options in this deck are spread out just enough to give you cards for all problems, just hold onto it until you need it!

Speaking of Indestructible, Sliver Hivelord's ability gives all of your Slivers that! This is perfect for multiple occasions (like your other spells) because it can make it break the game at any moment. Need a 5/5 beater? Call up the Hivelord! About to finish someone off but wanna keep your army ready afterward? The Hivelord is there! With all this handy cards in your deck, it's easy to seize opportunities in-game, but that doesn't mean you always should. Sometimes, you need to lay low, because if players sense a threat from you, you can find that 4 player game turning into a 1 vs 3! The best thing to do is hold your best cards until the right time. Instead of using Utter End on that Frost Titan now, why not let it do some damage and make the win a little easier later? Why let someone finish off a weak player when you can save him for an easy win? Instead of wiping the board with Phyrexian Rebirth, why not draw more answers with Opportunity? A strong move on your part can sometimes be not moving at all to keep building your army, so remember that you have plenty of time because in a turn or two you can draw a good Sliver and retake control of the game! And when the time comes, the Hive will conquer all!!!
