Deck Description

SO APPARENTLY ZOMBIES ARE STANDARD AGAIN. AND STANDARD BLOCKS ARE HUGE NOW. SO I DECIDED TO PLAY STANDARD ZOMBIES. IT'S THE GLORY DAYS OF INNISTRAD COMING BACK TO HAUNT STANDARD. THANK YOU WIZARDS OF THE COAST.

(Sorry for all the capitals. I'm really excited to bring back the 2nd best tribe ever. After goblins of course.)

How to Play

YOU PLAY ZOMBIES AND EAT BRAINS. THIS ISN'T ROCKET SCIENCE.

On a more serious (slightly) note, Standard zombies have changed since Innistrad (my favorite block) and boy oh boy, have the options gotten strange. Now, we're Orzhov colors rocking some weird noncreature spells? Let's get straight to work shall we?

Black is our heaviest color, for the obvious reasons of Zombies live in Black primarily. You've got stuff like Lord of the Accursed being your typical Zombie lord (a must in any Zombie deck) and and Cryptbreaker, which can net card draw and Zombies. Diregraf Colossus is a helluva powerhouse, while Plague Belcher at first glance seems just a bit pricey. Thankfully, Dread Wanderer and Relentless Dead supports Belcher immensely by being able to come back, and if necessary you can kill off the Binding Mummy as it taps down a potential blocker for the turn. Surprisingly, White offers the excellent Orzhov zombie Wayward Servant, which just gives us a lesser Diregraf Captain feel and adds longevity and pressure to the board. combined the the aforementioned Cryptbreaker, Colossus, Wanderer, and Relentless you have a stream of zombies draining away at the opponent.

For our other spells, Fatal Push is apparently the biggest thing in Standard and Modern (I'm not sure how I feel about it yet) and when combined with Renegade Map you get a pretty sweet Removal spell for 1 black. Time to Reflect is a nifty combat trick that finishes off walls or things our chump zombie blocker coerced into an attack. I'm not sure how heavy enchantment removal is, so the Graf Harvest can potentially devastate certain decks or just add pressure to our already heft offense. Finally, I love cycle cards. They add draw or spice to any deck. So now we have even more cycle cards AND they're standard? You know I'm in. Stir the Sands is great, pushing a potential 3 tap with Binding Mummy or 3 drain with Servant at full cost or just being a niche card draw with a token. I just hope in the next set we got off color cycle dual lands!

Sideboard is meta dependent. A creature heavy deck gets Scrutiny, Unmaking, Declaration, Time, and Never (just side out stuff that isn't Push mainly) while decks with just fat threats can just have Unmaking and Never added. Scarab Feast is for reanimator/zombie decks, while Lost Legacy is a fun card that rips out things you hate right outta that deck. All in all, the decks seems expensive but fun, I can't wait to try it out! Enjoy!
