Deck Description

I'm a newbie to MTG but this is a deck I'm working on for casual play and maybe develop it for tournaments...

Any tips? I've yet to play a real person. Only been on the Xbox game lol

Deck discussion for Black Vamp Deck (Newbie)

Okay, first, it's not exactly a full-fledged Vampire deck (THANK GOD). While I like some of the additions you've made (Nantuko Shade chiefly), some of it just isn't necessary. For example: Platinum Angel. If you're running Death's Shadow in here, you're expecting to be getting them to 10 - life as soon as possible. So why put in an artifact with a win ability? Much better using the Blade of the Bloodchief.

Next, we address the seeming lack of Diabolic Tutors. One?! No, no, if you're going to run Tutors in there, you're going to want at least 2, preferably 3. I also noticed you put Suffer the past on the sideboard. Good choice, but you might want some Sanguine Bonds to match.

One the plus side, you do have plenty of Nighthawks, a great multipurpose card. Another negative, though, is the Demon of Death's Gate. What's he doing there? Not near enough graveyard action to utilize him fully, unless you really dislike your Vampires that much. A last word on the Barony Vampire: not worth the cost, man. He's too much mana, not enough anything.

Lastly, your mana curve is actually pretty nice. Except for the 7 - 6 mana cards. Ouch.
Overall, 5/10.

Like some of this, but like the previous said, why in the world is Demon of Death's Gate in here? I'd suggest removing him for a legendary eldrazi block vampire. Like the Bloodchief of Ghet, or Malakir.

Also Barony Vampire and Bloodthrone aren't that great, they're overpriced for what they do. I'd say get rid of them for really pretty much any other vampires...
And only one Captivating Vampire? You should run at least two of him, he's a booster and a creature theif!
Also the lack of Vampire Nocturnus bothers me... He boosts all vampires by +2/+1 if you have a black card revealed through his effect, and you can stack Nocturnus' effect for +4/+2, +6/+3, or if you're amazingly lucky +8/+4... That turns a Gatekeeper of Malakir into an epic beatstick... A reaaaally epic beat stick!

personally i like child of night for a early beat, and you did good with the 4 nighthawks. drop the barony vamps and bloodthone like the others said, take out some of the random stuff (angel, demon,) you barely have artifacts so why the lich? etc. feel free to look at my vamp deck and please tell me what you think.
