Jace, Memory Adept would probably work better than Jace Beleran with this deck. His +1 is more advantageous than Beleran's and his second ability is unmatched for rapid mill.
Doran the Siege Tower is good and he's also what I based this deck on, but he's also tricoloured and I don't really want to stretch the deck to that.
Really appreciate the help! Perimeter Captain and Stalwart Shield-Bearer really improve the deck and I've been looking for an excuse to use Helix Pinnacle in something. Opted to skip Warmonger's Chariot though, since I really need Assault Formation for its first ability more than its second.
