Ponders, Preordains, and the one from Mirrodin block who's name escapes me can be just as good I agree. Also the Zendikar land that basically Ponders without the draw. Scry for the win. Also if you splash blue you get access to the most annoying things on the planet a.k.a Counterspells. Thank God for City of Brass, Utopia anything and the like.

That's rather impressive, it has a lot of potential. Now the question that plagued deck builders since the dawn of time. How to make this consistent? The only answer I can think of costs lots of money and is VERY not standard...Demonic tutor.

I love kiln fiend so much, it's just such a beast card. One thing my friend does in his pyromancer ascension deck is combine Distortion strike with kiln fiend and the same strategy could be applied here.

That is a very interesting idea. Genesis wave to spam the curses seems solid and the downfall I see is not having enough mana to go through your deck for the curses.
