Deck Description

The current version of my Standard Goblin deck.
After the Zendikar block cycled out, my Goblin deck lost alot of its firepower, so I shelved it. Last week my friend built a burn deck out of my red cards (including some from my Gobbies) and it got me thinking. I can update my Gobbies :p

Sideboard needed though.

Deck discussion for Ded Deck - Goblins (Standard)

17 lands is way too risky, I have a similar deck and I run 21 mountains and sometimes you still get those rounds where you get stuck on 2 mana for way too long.. Sure you can cast a lot of spells still, but only one each round, which greatly reduces the speed of your kill.

You'd be surprised how well 17 lads worked in the previous version, but with the overall speed being reduced due to Zendikar and M11 phasing out of standard, I'm thinking of bumping it up to 19 lands. Hmmm... what to take out?...

I hate this deck type so... so... much. So cheap. So fast. Damn that red speed. That being said one thing I would change and I agree with the land bump what I would swap is either the arsonists or drop a shock and an arsonist. I don't know what your thought on vampire decks would be but I was wondering if you could give mine a look?

id say up the arsonists to four. You dont need the red sun or the shocks, so up arsonists to 4 and add 3 contested war zones. I run them with my goblins, and they are a huge help.

17 land is a bit low even for the low cost of everything... contested war zone could be an option though it has the slight drawback of being "contested"... one thing i have been meaning to try out myself is the addition of ghost quarter...

its an extra land, though colourless it serves multiple purposes

1. it serves the basic function of adding mana..
2. it serves as a removal to non-basic lands, like moorland haunt, kessig, nephelia, inkmoth...
3. it serves as a decktrimmer and fetchland - yes it is by far as powerfull as the zendikar/onslaught fetchlands, but its the current one there is in standard, the basic land you search for comes into play untapped...

another land that might fill the last 2-3 spots; rootbound crag... this one opens up for sideboard material like ancient grudge.. (well it helps with the flashback anyway...)

otherwise Evolving wilds will be back with Dark Ascension...

17 lands hasn't been a problem for me, I find it to work just fine at that number. I'm against the War Zone because of its down side. I feel Ghost Quarter is a card for a medium to long game deck and that's not what I'm going for with this deck. All your sugestions are good, but don't quite fit my 'odd' type of play :p

Why the Ichor Wellspring? Yes its a draw card, but doesn't serve much use elsewhere. I would recommend Panic Spellbomb. Good cheap card which could help win you the game should your opponent get some big creatures out early. :)

Plus, you get a draw ability anyway for 1 mana! So it serves the initial purpose of your Wellspring, but at a cheaper cost with an extra ability which i truly believe would help u more in-game

Wellspring may cost one more than the Spellbomb, but I get to draw 2 cards off of it thanks to Kuldotha Rebirth. Even when I don't draw a Rebirth, the Wellspring counts towards metalcraft for Galvanic Blast.

This deck is really cool
I was considering making a standard goblin deck but couldn't really think of how to pull it off.
This looks solid.

Does it play well against higher tier decks or is it more casual?
