msv4 wanted to make a deck where Lava Axe is good. This is my attempt at it. Forgotten Cave and Smoldering Crater are place holders for Sheltered Thicket and Canyon Slough.
Main goal is to Imprint Lava Axe and Flame Jab onto Spellweaver Helix, with a second Flame Jab in the graveyard to use via Retrace, which will then trigger Spellweaver Helix to cast a "free" Lava Axe. To help set this up I've included 12 looting cards. Sheltered Thicket and Canyon Slough are to be discarded to Flame Jab's Retrace or cycled. Dakmor Salvage can either be discarded to Flame Jab's Retrace or Dredged to fill the graveyard quicker.

Love it! This is an interesting take on how to case the card for free, my only concern is that I'm not sure it will set up the combo quick enough with no way of blocking any of the opponents creatures. Would have to play test it to see on average how many turns it takes to set up the combo and do enough face damage.Spread the word, Lava Axe IS GOOD! =)

Gamble might be helpful. Could get a bit convoluted, though.
Except, Gamble isn't Modern legal, which is a limit I set for this deck.
This is a pretty spicy deck.
I got it, this deck needs ensnaring bridge and blood moon.... Heck just take the walkers out of free win red and use this instead, you can even challace on two as you don't even need jab to resolve if you lava axe!
Don't know why, but I am thinking Cinder Pyromancer and Prophetic Ravings might work in this deck. (though they'd take up valuable space)Btw Lava Axe FTW!!!
