Modern Prowess

by DedWards on 08 June 2016

Main Deck (60 cards)

Sideboard (6 cards)

Instants (6)

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

Grixis Panorama should be Scalding Tarn and Swiftwater Cliffs should be Steam Vents. But seeing as I don't have them and I'm not sure yet how well this'll run, the cheaper ($) ones will have to do.

Also not sure on Slip Through Space. Slip Through Space draws a card, but Artful Dodge that can be cast twice in one turn.

I'd also like the sideboard to have reactive stuff (counter spells, hexproof Instants, more burn, etc.). That way I can switch between proactive and reactive to match the opponent's deck.

How to Play

Play Prowess creatures
Play spells to activate Prowess
Attack with creatures
...
Win?

Deck discussion for Modern Prowess

Mizzium Skin for SB? Also I reckon slip through space is better than Artful Dodge. Elusive Spellfist already has unblockable a lot of the time and with only 8 blue mana it may be hard to double cast it in one turn.

If Artful Dodge went in, the lands would be reworked to get the double casting.

Elusive Spellfist may have the unblockable built in, but it still benefits off the casting of the spell.

Yeah. It is a fine line between the two.
I was going to suggestion Cipher spells but realised you need to get the prowess trigger before damage is dealt.

This is pretty good I like the idea of prowess myself.
You should check my prowess deck out.

This will require a normal Modern landbase, (fetch and shock lands), but splashing Green gives access to Atarka's Command and Become Immense, 2 seriously broken cards in a Prowess build.

I've proved time and time again that with two colour decks, the Fetch + Shock lands are NOT a necessity. Though, if you have them already, it is good to use them.

Those are very good green cards, though Atarka's Command doesn't impress me as much in a build like this, at least not mainboard. You also forgot to mention Mutagenic Growth. If you're going to cast Temur Battle Rage on a Prowess creature, Mutagenic Growth is two life for 6 extra damage.

If Green is splashed then it's no longer a 2 color deck now is it? Growth could certainly be played here but if we are piling up on the pump spells then Bogles and Infect is probably where you should be. A-Command shines with Prowess, pumping the whole crew twice and getting a 2nd effect for free, seems like what you want to be doing in a deck like this....!?!
