Tough to block Rogues

by DedWards on 04 April 2012

Main Deck (60 cards)

Sideboard (12 cards)

Creatures (8)

Sorceries (4)

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

Mono black (mostly) unblockable rogues + prowl = fun :D

"Unblockable" rogues + Stinkdrinker Bandit = lots of hurt (for the opponent)

Frogtosser Banneret's cost reduction does lower prowl costs too.

Quag Vampires / Dunerider Outlaw to replace Prickly Boggart against Black / Green decks.

Any constructive criticism is welcome.

Deck discussion for Tough to block Rogues

Oooh! A Rogue Tribal deck? I have been waiting for someone to make one!

I've noticed that there aren't many rares in this deck, but seriously, what could you add? Oona's Prowler? I guess... but, it's ability isn't exactly... what you're looking for.

As a player of the game, I am very cheap when it comes to deck prices, and any deck that costs less than $20 inclines me to make it myself. But when I see a deck that could cost less than $5 and I may have some of these cards in storage, man, TCGplayer, here I come!

A very good deck. Well done!

:D

I've been saying for years that a deck doesn't need rares and the few I have in here aren't exactly needed :p

I realised a while ago that card prices ($ wise) aren't affected by rarity (much), but rather popularity. What I mean is the more popular a card is, the higher its $ value because more people will buy it. Now a lot of the cards in here aren't exactly popular, but that doesn't mean they're bad cards (as I'm sure you've noticed)

I have a habit of looking for cheap ways to make decent decks and this normally leads me to use less popular cards :p

Glad you like the deck :)

Cover of Darkness was almost made for Rogues, flavorfully and mechanically.

That is an awesome card, but sadly not Modern legal :(
The closest Modern legal card I could find (at an ok mana cost) is Hideous Visage :|

You could use Dolmen Gate. Is Modern Legal, and the fact that your attacking creatures dont get combat damage, your opponent could decide to don´t block them sometimes to don´t lose their creatures to block an "indestructible" Rogue, so you could use the Prowl ability of the cards in your hand. If you have time, please comment my deck, also Rogue, http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=352136

I gotta get on Wumps' case about posting up his rogue tribal, but he's all wrapped up in love and all that crap =P

Anyways, I've never been a fan of cloak and dagger...I just think its more gimmick than helpful to the tribe. I would suggest putting in AT LEAST two Liliana's Caress in here. With four Blackgaurds in here, just two would absolutely wreck people.

I would also try to fit in Bitterblossum if you want to pay for a few, as they are amazing for evasive rogue decks =]

Blue does open other options like the prowl card that gives an extra turn and rouges that draw you cards. So don't commit to mono black just yet.
