Deck Description

One of the newer players, a school kid, at my LGS wants to play Pirate Tribal. This is an attempt at making an aggro tribal deck he can actually put together himself.

Other than Duress, which I have a ton of because of multiple reprints over the years, I will need to work with this newer player on what sideboard options can help against our LGS's meta for the format.

How to Play

Play creatures, turn them sideways, and hope to win.

As this is a low mana value aggro deck, we can't afford any tapped lands at all. Without the budget to get the duals like Blood Crypt, we will only use the tribal duals. Thankfully, the main deck is almost completely creatures.

With 35 pirates in he deck, having a pirate in hand to reveal to Daring Buccaneer should almost be guaranteed, making it an excellent turn 1 play.

If you can get Raid on Rigging Runner, which should not be difficult with the number of cheap creatures in this deck, it makes a better Daring Buccaneer, because it has first strike.

Grasping Scoundrel is another cheap 2 power attacker for 1 mana.

Fanatical Firebrand having the ability to sacrifice itself to deal 1 damage to anything can often make blocks difficult for the opponent. It can also turn on Revolt for Fatal Push.

Dire Fleet Poisoner is the other Pirate that doubles as a removal spell. It has deathtouch, and can give deathtouch to another attacking Pirate, making it good both on the offense and defense.

Dire Fleet Captain can be massive on an attack. Does the opponent answer the big one, or the rest of the fleet?

Fathom Fleet Captain has menace and can keep churning out other menace pirates. It's a good mana sink for when we tun out of cards to play.

Kitesail Freebooter is a mainboard answer to the opponent's cheap creature removal. Especially good for nabbing those sweepers. Duress out of the sideboard will help with this too.

Kari Zev is another menacing threat, and she comes with everyone's favorite monkey: Ragavan.
