The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Deck discussion for a tornado of terrible

Love the way this turned out. Solid job putting it together and I love how you are able to back your opponents into a wall.

Probobly a real black control deck. Well nice deck! :D Just more zombies to piss me off. I was just at a tourney of 5 people and this was the kind of deck that made me not get first place XD

Not sure why you posted this on my pod deck... but it looks very fast, and extremely effective. I'm a fan of your low mana curve, and these recurring creatures are a nightmare for control players :D

Awesome build, draven :-) Geralf's Messenger is OP as well as Gravecrawler and they really have good synergy with each other.
Could you maybe take a look at my mono black deck "Black Magic?" I think it could use some fine tuning, just not sure what it is :-P

Congrats for stomping at the tournament! I love zombies, and here they are blending so well with vampires. I've never built a standard deck, but if I had I wish I could have built this one!

I can't suggest anything because unfortunately I'm not familiar enough with standard, but I'm betting this deck could hold its own very well in casual play too. If you wanted to mod it for casual then I can't suggest unholy grotto enough, it would combo great with messenger.

If you'd like then please check out my zombie tribal deck. It give all your zoms deathtouch then combines it with first strike for a great attack deterrent. It'll cheats all the swamps in your deck directly in to play with an unholy grotto/korlash combo, makes all lands in play swamps then, after all the zoms are pumped up to deal at least 5 damage each, gives all your zoms swampwalk for a killer finish swing.

It's strict tribal and a lot of fun, the only non creature/non land card is dark ritual.

Because I prefer to have a direct kill to something I see as a threat..... most people use mutilate and bonfire so I let them hurts them more then me :-)

I'd suggest you Altar's Reap from Innistrad. Manacost (1B), Instant cast if you need to draw cards during opponents turn for example Murder or Tragic Slip.

You need to sac a creature aswell, but as you have gravecrawlers and Geralfs it shouldn't be much a problem to. Plus if you have Blood Artist on the battleground you gain life and your opponent suffers.

+ Tragic Slip gets morbid.

i had alters reap in i prefer the disciple.... especially to a soulcage fiend i dont loose the 3 life but they do.... plus using disciple gives me another creature that i can sac..... believe me when i say i tried all diff cards in here until i found this winning combination.... thanks anyway :)

0
Posted 21 September 2012 at 12:04

and not to mention with bolas i gain life equal to its power AND draw that many cards.... compared to alters reap which i only get to draw one card and gain no life

Ah, sorry you understood me wrong. My suggest was to replace sign in blood.

0

i see what you are saying but i prefer sign in blood.... i can use it or i can use it on my opponent for that last bit of kill damage

0

Also, whats cool is that If you have 2 gravecrawlers and a bloodthrone vampire, declare an attack with all your creatures, then you sack 2 G C's to Bloodthrone vampire, play disciple of bolas. Bloodthorne wil be a 5/5 so +5 cards +5 life

Your deck easily seems like it would welcome something like Killing Wave, especially playing it yourself.

You're also going to want a side board against things like Geist and Stalker where you can't deal with the problem directly. Mutilate is something you might want to add, along with maybe adding Killing Wave to that list.

Also, no Nighthawk? Best black beat stick in Standard right now, honestly. Evasion is a key in a lot of cases.

0
Posted 22 September 2012 at 07:04

yep no nighthawk.... and i havent needed a side..... and nobody plays geist where i am from.... thanks for commenting but i am very happy to keep this exactly how it is listed :)

0

I tend to agree that Mutilate would fit in the side nicely. Now having said that I've played against Draven74 and had them staring down a turn 5 Battle of Wis with me having 13 life to go. Managed to pull off all 13 damage in one turn with one card in hand. With the ability to deal that much damage that quick I'm not sure how many changes I'd make even sideboarding.

0
Posted 22 September 2012 at 18:24

I'd disagree with Mutilate as with this deck you never really need to clear the board; it wins fast enough for it to not really be an issue. It's too defensive a card for a deck that's nothing but fast damage.

0

You have to speed it up. I just repeatedly crushed this deck in playtesting against my R/G bloodthirst deck And that deck is almost pauper. You need a way of dealing with a small horde of medium sized creatures. Maybe Mutilate?

0

funny i dont recall ever being beaten by a r/g blood thirst deck :)

0
Posted 23 September 2012 at 09:19

and if this r/g you are talking about is the 9 card deck you have posted LOL kinda not legal there tough guy :)
so try to think a little more of the rules of the game... you know like this is a standard deck ... you know 60 cards etc, before you try to rip mine apart put it up against a real deck not a 9 card hot mess of crap :)

I believe this deck is cheap enough to go less than 22 lands.

0

Not sure if it's been mentioned already or not. Have you considered Butcher Ghoul? 2 drop Undying zombie. Seems like it would go perfect for the sacrifice aspect and it just comes back. You could then use your Tragic Slip on it and sacrifice it again only to have it come back yet again I believe. Could be wrong though.

i had butcher ghoul in the beginning of this deck but i dropped him for bolas :) thanks :)

Great deck! It's very similar in principle to the U/B zombies I run.

I do think limiting the Mutilates in there and putting in a Killing Wave or two would be an improvement. It's a cheaper mana cost that still lets you sacrifice your board to blood artists (even if X is played for 0), and has the added upside of making the opponent lose life. Either they pay to keep creatures and you surprise them by wiping your board for lethal blood artist, or their guys die and your blood artist goes off anyway. And hell, then you can pay the life you just gained to keep your own guys alive if it works out better.

In short, Mutilate is a great board wipe, but Killing Wave can give you a lot more choices if you're running a sacrifice/blood artist strategy.

Forgot to add - 4 Disciple of Bolas might be a little high, considering he's on the expensive side of the mana curve. However, if what you have is working, keep it up!

If you could take a look at my Bant Hexproof, I'd like any opinions on it. Thanks :)

What if you dropped your 4 Murder for 4 Bone splinters?

Not only do you get to destroy target creature, but you get the benefit of sacking your own, making blood artist trigger twice, and its only one black.

I realize its sorcery speed, but you can't overlook the fact that its only one mana and the benefits that it will bring to this deck.
