Deck Description

The idea was inspired by the Xathrid Necromancer's art and flavour (which hatched an idea loosely related to the WoW's WotLK expansion), but also by the tough-ass zombies I already had (Titan, Reaver, Lifebane).

In a nutshell:
-Lich King & his pet Dragon
-Contingents of Tokens
-Force Multipliers (Diregraf, Reaper)
-Powerful Enchantments
-Stand-alone zombie monsters

I've yet to acquire most of the cards, so all feedback is dearly appreciated! The deck is aimed for Casual-Competitive fun, so I welcome views from both sides of the coin.

Ps. the sideboard is WIP atm.

Deck discussion for Scourge of the Lich King

I really like the idea of a zombie deck, I had one years ago (wish I could remember what it encompassed). I do have some recommendations which may make your likelihood of getting mana screwed better and also I think could strengthen the over all "theme". My first recommendation is ditch the green. Dual-mana decks run better in terms of having the mana you need and I really don't see any green in here that is vital to the zombie theme. That's not to say that your green cards aren't cool in their own way, they're just not necessary. I also think you could probably find some more blue/black cards to replace them, like Lich Lord of Unx. I also believe that you could get rid of some other cards that don't seem to compliment the theme, like Acolyte of Xathrid and Massacre Wurm. They definitely have their place in MTG, but this deck is already so creature heavy, you can definitely spare them, and more. I would also recommend taking Vile Rebirth out of the sideboard and putting into the main deck, and not just one, at least two, if not a whole playset. I think the deck could use more protection from threats, so if you ditch the green, instead of using putrefy, you could use good ol Murder. Granted, it's one more mana, but it's all black, and it doesn't just destroy non-black creatures like Doomblade. I also would have this in the main deck, not the sideboard. All in all I think the deck has some strong creatures and I definitely like the enchantments, but going that creature heavy is going to leave you really vulnerable to spells that work around creatures. I would suggest trying to find some more instants/sorceries to put in there. Alter's Reap and Sign in Blood aren't bad if you're getting mana screwed or only drawing big creatures. Maybe use some cards that can put some control over your opponent, like Thought Seize (although that is a pricey card). Hope this helps :)

I'd like nothing more than to keep the Golgarish theme with a few living/green creatures mixed in. Those Gravetillers are so adorable (downright nasty too, given the opportunity)! The acolytes were there for the sub-theme of Shaman/Necromancer coven (guess 9 creatures make a bit too much of a main theme though?). But yeah, I can't find a way to have it all squeezed in 60 cards, so better let them go :(
Maybe a separate scavenge/Golgari deck is in order.

Thanks for the feedback, that helped a lot! I suspected there were too few counters and draw, but I desperately wanted to trust in the overwhelming mass of zombies to win the day (in order to have those Wurms and Acolytes). Btw, Thoughtseize looks awesome! Just what I needed/wanted but didn't know of! :)

Glad it helped! And yes, thoughtseize is great...too bad it's so darn expensive! I'd some in my own black deck if I could afford them lol. Golgari is definitely a fun theme (I had bought the Golgari vs. Izzet duel decks and basically just morphed the Golgari deck into something I felt was better and stronger), but you may be taking on too much at once! The more you spread your themes thin, the weaker they become.
