Deck discussion for Armorer (WR) (Type 2 Standard)

Puresteel Paladin looks awesome for decks like these, but I have a concern about its application:

Let's say Metalcraft is active, and your equip costs are now 0s. The actual equip casting(even though free) is still considered a sorcery though, right? That means even if you have Shimmer Myr on the battlefield, you can't just cast a Sword during the blocking phase and equip it, could you?

If not, I guess I don't understand the practicality of the Myrs in the deck.

Equipping is still a sorcery, I need to re-do some of it and add some living weapon equipment, which increases the importance of flash.

However, even without that it still allows you to cast during your opponents turn (forcing them to tap out if they wish to counter something), then you untap during your turn and have complete freedom to play.

Okay, that's where I figured you would be going with it. I imagine Shimmer Myr + Batterskull is going to be extremely popular.
