Deck discussion for Naya Aggro Attempt #2

It's interesting, but why is it running mortapod? I mean yeah it's neat, but it's two mana per ping.

I also like how you've got your gideon in here, he adds a lot to naya it seems to me.

mortapod is actually really good. its has living weapon, which is always nice, but against boros you can FORCE them to crack their fetches, ping an untapped hawk they THOUGHT would be a chump blocker, his a hawk before equip in caw go, get a free chump blocker and sac to ping something else, it's just good all together. I used to be skeptical until I ran it myself.

in a really aggro based meta I find it's really good. killing a lotus cobra is always worth it i.m.o.

I prefer my Sparkmages to it still, they're reusable, and I can equip them with basilisk collars for extra douche :D

Though that is a good use of the pod I guess, it's just right now I think the mage is still a better option.

yeah but sparkmages can die quite easily. and take up a few card slots. but mortarpod is essentially harder to target and is reusable all the same. ;P

I know right? It's kind of awesome to me at the least, granted my last deck to get front page was almost entirely off of our conversation, but hey!

hahaha, well, we just have to make our conversations twice as long to compensate now ! :P

I just noticed this has sixty-one cards main board, that's quite a bold move.

Sick looking deck. 3 Lightning bolt seems kinda strange honestly, but it's already 61 cards I suppose and the deck looks too good to cut much else. My only idea for a possible change... I see 3 Misty's which only can fetch the 3 Forests. Perhaps adding 1 more Forest for a Raging Ravine? Your deck seems like it can use it's mana up well and quickly so Raging Ravine's come into play tapped effect is potentially harmful. I feel like this might help the mana situation just a slight margin but otherwise it all seems quite solid! Love the build. Lmk how this deck/version works out for you.:)

I'm planning to build a Bant colored deck that is similar in function but uses control elements like Mana Leak and Jace over Vengevine and Fauna Shaman (partly because I don't own any Vengevine and they're hard to trade in my area). I'll let you know when I've got it pieced together.

why thank you. i found this deck doesn't do as well as the green white, but i still like what red has to offer.
dropping 1 ravine does seem practical, though. thanks :D

this deck raped control, did well against tezz, buttt strangely, had a fairly hard time against kuldotha red.. weird, haha.

but once you get the bant up and running, let me know! i'll take a looksy :D

A few Pyroclasm in the board could go a long way in helping the Kuldotha Red matchup. Maybe chop the Arc Trail for them or something. Kor Firewalker is great, of course as well. But that does seem slightly odd, though most decks really can't beat the "God" draw of K-Red anyways. The problem is the deck is so hit-or-miss... Cool to hear it's doing pretty well overall though.

Well, I've got my Bant deck together... Sort of. I need one more card to cut (it's at 61 right now & I'd like to be at 60). Any thoughts? Suggestions?

yeah, pyroclasms may work, except theyd kill a lot of my guys, too :/

and I'll check now in a second after I reply to these comments, haha. (:

If you're siding them (Pyroclasms) in, it's going to be against a deck like Kuldotha Red in which case, you'll probably be casting it on turn 2 and 3 at the latest. At this point, even if you kill 2 of your creatures for their entire hand worth of cards, I'd say you still come out miles ahead!

I like the design, and think that with the efficiency and versatility of Naya, running 61 is nothing to worry about.

Why thank you. (:
and yeah, I find in any build where you can search up what you need (i.e. tool box builds, even though this one isn't all that tool box, i use shamans and stoneforges for seeking) running 61 doesn't slow you down all too much.

I still find my green white to be a lot better, though. none the less. and it runs 61 as well

I have to say, your naya deck is quite different than the traditional. I like naya because of the abilities that effect cards that have powers of 5 or greater. take a look at this and see what you think
