why run silence when you can run condemn?

silence will prevent a bunch of little threats coming in, or somebody else condemning my pumped lynx or geopede.

Hey I found it! (Site was acting goofy for a while).

This is pretty cool man. Really aggressive with a hint of landfall. There's something that doesn't make much sense to me though -- Stoneforge Mystic. She doesn't really fit the deck, and aside from grabbing the gear, does nothing.

Ironically, you'd be better off running 4 Adventuring Gears and taking her out.

The other thing I'd suggest is lowering your land count. With a deck that's as low-cost as yours, 20 lands is all you need, and you could even go lower if you wanted (to 18).

Other than that though, this is a nice, inexpensive aggro. I like it.

Thanks man!
If you don't mind, whenever I make a deck I'm not too sure on, I'll be leaning towards asking your opinions; you seem as if you know what you're doing.

I was if-y on the land count, and I think I'll cut it down to 20, and add more burn.
that's a good point on the adventuring gears; i could just sideboard stoneforge in the case that i need to whip out some other equip.

All in all, thanks man (:

I would maybe run a third journey, a basilisk collar, and at least 2 of those Elders from scars. 1 mana drop red creature. very good with adventuring gear, and fetch lands.

0
Posted 23 December 2010 at 13:39

if I was going to maindeck basilisk collar, i'd just run sparkmage. i probably will find someway to maindeck the third journey as well, but besides that, I'm having a hard time with this deck, lol.

i thought u/b was hard? this requires much more thought than a 15 year old should be able to process xD

Out of curiosity, how would you guys see this deck running in a tournament?
I've yet to play this deck (what with christmas and all) and I'm really looking to win my local fnm, lol.

So, if you guys have any suggestions whatsoever to improve the over-all well being of this deck, please, let me hear 'em! (:

I know I need marsh flats/scalding tarns, but they're not really in the budget for this deck atm. But any comments in regards to the sideboard will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :D

I'm not very much of a deckbuilder myself. BUT. I'd like to see some more dmg cards to keep clean on opponents side and finish quick

0

Two of my favorite cards for big red finishs right now are, 1) Fling, I've won so many games with that it desrves red card of the year or something close to it. 2) Assault Strobe, if they don't have enough blockers early that can do it right there.

0
Posted 21 December 2010 at 02:02

Fling is good, but i can't see me pumping up geopedes/lynxes enough for it to become useful.

assault strobe isnt a bad idea.

im starting to question the silences,

hasd to change the name of the deck, due to new changes. Ohwell, I find it's much better now (:

bushwhacker.. was hit and miss, and in this deck, there was no time for a blank draw. which is what he provided sometimes.

I think I'd rather see more burn over those Silence. And if you can, replace those tempo-killing Exspanses and Wilds for Arid Mesas, Scalding Tarn, and Marsh Flats.

I also don't know if I like Sword in there.

I don't see Koth being relavent for SBing, I'd use his space for a 3rd Mark of Mutiny since it's sick VS Titans. And on that topic I'd add a singleton Teetering Peaks and Sejiri Steppe. That way if you do Mark a P. Titan you can do some serious damage. And Peaks is always good for pumping Landfall guys or bouncing via Skyfisher.

0
Posted 21 December 2010 at 23:29

yeah, just today i replaced silence with burst lightning.
and those lands arent within my current budgets, but the minute i get them, they're in.
sword is amazing. stoneforge, seek out sword, any flyer, turn 4 mill 10, green worlf token? thats sweet.
plus protection from green and blue is dope.

koth.. was thrown in for something to have there xD but i did think he'd be good agaisnt a slower deck, droppin fatties.

but yeah, mark of mutiny would be a better replacement. and i may take out a spire for a teetering peaks.
thanks for the feedback :3

Hmmm... interesting. I kinda think I liked it better before. Boros is about one thing: winning by card 12. Stuff like 3x Journey to Nowhere... what do you expect to be dropped in the first few turns that you can't 1) kill or 2) ignore? And, contrary to what Anubuss thinks, Silence is epic. Early in the game, Silence is like making them skip their turn, especiall because they will have lost their creature from the previous turn blocking most likely. Imagine a game between me and you and ou had to skip our secound turn. Now imagine I'm playing an aggro deck. Its the kind of disadvantage you will not recover from.

Sword of Body and Mind is great, but it takes way to long to use it... by the time its equipped victory should be garenteed. Stoneforge Mystic and Kor Skyfisher are kind of bleh in this kind of deck, they are simply too slow. Assault Strobe would be an awesome card for this deck, as would Emerge Unscathed. Protection means you cannot be blocked by that color... plus it has rebound and is only 1 mana.

0
Posted 23 December 2010 at 18:33

Totally agree. Mostly on the subjects of Silence and Assault Strobe. Getting hit with a Silence sucks. Period. And Assault Strobe?! Have you seen the flavor text?! It's basically the entire mantra of Boros in one sentence:

"When breaking someone's face once just isn't enough."

you guys are completely right.

I can't thank you enough for helping me finalllly be satisfied with this deck.

I was constantly looking for ways to be faster, and it just hit me (dumb moment) ... why not just say screw the equip and beat their face in?

I'm hoping this will be fast enough to finally take out my friend's lifegain now, lol. He's my biggest competition, magic wise.

Once again, thanks a lot. and Merry Christmas :3

grow up. if you put as much focus into your decks as you do into covering up your cheating/trying to blame others for things they didnt do, you might actually get to the top decklist for real.

uhm maybe if you did run 4 Adventuring gear and no Stoneforge Mystics you could run some Goblin Tunneler to make your landfall creatures unblockable then drop lands so they get pumped a ton and go through. I will always run them in any deck that has small creatures that get bigger with a trigger, =]

it's funny you say that, because as I was making this deck, i considered him.
but i use stoneforge for more than just the gears, D:

Well, there are tons of comments on here and it's late... So for now I'm skipping them. Hope I'm not missing too much with that. Looking at the deck, though, it seems really solid! I personally like this better than the Battle Cry deck. This deck has a much more explosive potential, ableit with the cost of a worse late-game in general. However, the only things I could really see changing the most are the Emerge Unscathed and potentially the Koth's. Koth is expensive so if you don't own him, I don't think he's really needed. He's good, sure... I just don't know if he's really going to be that amazing in this deck. I mean, 4 mana for a 4/4 isn't bad but not great either. If he does ultimate, you have 5 total mountains in the entire deck to use... Not so great really. After taking them out, I'm going to honestly go with the Squadron Hawk suggestion again. It may seem weird, but it really is a killer card. It gives the deck more reach and is a total beating with a sword attached.

For the SB, Arc Runner just seems like a terrible card, IMO. 3 mana for a sorcery speed Lightning Bolt that can't target a creature? No thanks. I'd run Arc Trail instead. It gives you essentially a one-sided pyroclasm against the mirror match or something similar. For my metagame, Revoke Existence doesn't seem needed. Maybe yours is more heavy artifact, but even still, at this point I would focus more toward extra reach against a control opponent or something. Maybe a card like Luminarch Ascension. Of course, with MB out now, artifacts may quickly be a problem in which case I would probably use Divine Offering instead, anyways.

One last SB idea... Infect, while I don't really see it being a huge threat, may try to surface with more budget players and more casual players as well. Mirran Crusader is an incredible answer to them. Not sure if you'll need/want it but it is an idea. Hope this helps. Good luck.

0
Posted 05 February 2011 at 01:13

Cunning Sparkmage is also quite good for the SB. Takes out elves, birds, goblins, and anything else with a Basilisk Collar attached.

0
Posted 05 February 2011 at 01:18

luminarch ascension, omg. such a good suggestion!
But thanks, glad you like the deck. :D

and yeah, I'm thinking of ditching the koths for hero of oxid ridge. I'm trying to combine this deck and my battle cry one.

i dont see whats so great about the hawks, honestly. I used to run 4, but i realised that every time I drew them, I was wishing they'd be something else. I'd rather run the kor skyfishers.
mirran crusader is deff. a side board option, thank you. (: he's sideboarded in the battle cry deck. :D and i thought arc runner was arc trail, LOL, must have clicked the wronggggggg card. xD

and revoke is used for the big guys, i.e. wurmcoil and blightsteel. even last night, blightsteel saw a lott of play. so exiling is always good.

thanks so much for your advice.

0
Posted 05 February 2011 at 12:39

I see. That makes sense for the Revoke I suppose. But I'm glad I could help. Good luck with the deck.

Again, from what I've seen, the 4-drop slot doesn't really seem needed in this deck but it does certainly have potential I suppose. I do like the haste out of the Oxid Ridge. Kor Skyfishers are awesome for sure, but the Hawks compliment them well. Having both provides a lot of nearly unblockable damage, blockers, and great equipment wielding dudes. You certainly don't have to add the birds, though. I can fully understand why you wouldn't. However, in my experience, they have proved to be much better than I had initially expected.

0
Posted 07 February 2011 at 16:43

A lot of people in my metagame run the hawks, as well. but through personal experience with my friends, I just noticed that whenever I dew a hawk, I had wished it was something else/something bigger.

and the 4 drops are there for late game threats. because let's say I don't have the greatest start. I can't expect to win by just using a couple 2/2s. You know? I need a late game threat. And that's where the 4 drops/battlecry come in. Plus with all the landfall, it's not like I won't have the mana base to support it.

Thank you, once again (:
