Deck Description

WELCOME BACK TO HYPER BUDGET!
Decided to challenge myself; Build only decks that remain below $15 and could be used at a FNM with moderate success.
(Copied from Sway)

This deck is a simple UG Aggro deck with some control in it in order to make sure you can build up. I'd call it a Simic Midrange deck.

How to Play

This deck builds around the Evolve mechanic and unblockable Creatures. This deck can allow you to slowly tear your opponent apart if they don't have the right control tools against you. Also, i built in a lot of utility in form of card draw and the Horizon Chimera. This leads to you getting a whole lot of creatures in your hand, boosting the ones on the battlefield with evolve as soon as you bring them out. The Horizon Chimera heals you for the cards you draw and therefore gives you time in order to build up your unblockable Evolve creatures (Cloudfin Raptor and Elusive Krasis)

Deck discussion for Hyper Budget: Simic Midrange

I really like this deck! Thank you for giving me a new deck idea.

Now, since this is an Aggro deck, I'd personally at the very least sideboard Giant Growth (also countering burning creatures) and/or Rancor (for power and trample).

Hi, thanks for the comment.

Rancor seems like a really good idea, i personally don't like Giant Growth because this deck seems rather slow, Evolve creatures can't just burst through in a few turns, they need to build up. Therefore i think it is better to keep the control spells at lower costs and the utility spells at higher costs, Giant Growth would be a bit of a wasted cost in my opinion, because at the point where it is worth to use it on one of your creatures you already have much more mana in the pool. Although i can see your point as Giant Growth helps with spells such as Mizzium Mortars. :)

Gonna think a bit about it.

I see your point there.

Well of course I'm going to comment. This is a good deck! ^_^

Rancor is not legal in Standard anyway, it went out in September.

Mmh, could work out even if a lot of utility goes to waste, i'd have to test it at the next FNM again since Fathom Mage did a lot for me last friday, was kind of a game changer.

I'll see this friday, maybe i'll rework some more but i won't just blindly do changes. :)

I see that someone has learned something from me... At least now I know that I'm not so useless after all.

By the way, you would fit single Prophet of Kruphix here, and it won't even break your budget.

Give // Take can be pretty awesome in a Simic deck. Take is especially awesome for drawing cards, Zameck Guildmage is also great I highly recommend these both. They should be cheap since they are both uncommons that are not sought after.

If you're going to have Cancel in there, it should be Dissolve, right? Same costs, same effect, and Scry 1. I love this deck and I'll probably put it together just to have more options to play quick games with friends.

I agree. Dissolve over Cancel any day.
