Deck Description

I've decided to try to do the standard thing and see how it goes. I'm not positive on the sejiri steppes, but I figure if I can give my Accorder Paladins protection while attacking with them, and hopefully a couple other creatures, then that should result in some really nice early pressure. Any constructive criticism is welcome.

Deck discussion for Soldier Deck (Standard)

I really like it, however i'm not a huge fan of true conviction, and I think the deck could probably use more than 20 lands. 22 or 23 is probably where it's at. I do like more gideon over ajani, as it's not only a soldier but also a board clearer so you can swing in for game. Also, I feel like accorder paladin isn't as good as elite vanguard, and that hada freeblade probably isn't worth 4of, maybe 3of. Timely reinforcements is a very solid card, but again, probably not worth 4of - again with revoke existence not being worth 3of. probably more of a SB card imo.

Also - big deal! No adaptive automaton? That card is the one card that I thought you couldn't possibly miss. it's just that good.

also, check out my deck? I think it's kinda cool, comments? like for like? suggestion?

Thank you for the reply. Yeah, I really would like adaptive automatons A LOT, but right now they are very hard for me to come by. I haven't play tested the deck yet, but I keep thinking the more battle cry the better as far as the paladin is concerned. Your input is appreciated though.

Like the deck. It seems that with only 7 allies, it's not quite enough to be effective. I love the Elite Vanguard for my soldier deck. Really like Porcelain Legionnaire and have been considering adding it to mine as well.
Mine isn't standard, but here's what it looks like anyways.

I've been thinking about Elite vanguards, but really he's pretty much the same as a Hada Freedblade. Hada, though, will probably get bigger through the game. And the Blademaster, I've been running a soldier deck for a while that isn't standard, and the Blademaster just might be my most useful card. I mean a 2/2 with first strike and vigilence for two mana is worth it even if it didn't pump up. Try to run your soldier deck with some Hadas and Blademasters in there. I really think you'll be surprised.

I like the entire deck but the sideboard seems really iffy. Most of it is just protection from black and red and doesn't really change your deck too much. I think maybe some more universal cards to help against any deck type.
I'd also say if you add in more ally cards that Tezzeret's Gambit will proliferate the counters on them and give you card advantage, but that may change the deck too much.

As long as you can win before someone can use Black Sun's Zenith or Wrath of God you are in good shape. I think it would take you too long to set up again after that, but your chances of winning are high.
