Deck discussion for Arachnophobia!

I hate spiders but this makes me like them a little bit more.

Arachnus Spinner is that huge spider in the basement and it brings a big web. Also Silklash Spider can mass kill fliers.

i still was looking for a fast deck when i made this about a year ago i just got around to posting it now but yeah i know it brings in a web and all but its just too much mana.

but over all thanks for your feedback.

seems cool, feel bad if the other guy is using flyers lol. I'd maybe consider losing canopy for +4 vines of the vastwood. Buffs and gives shroud. Would be helpful offensively and defensively. Think about it. +1

thanks for checking out my demons/devils deck:

Not a fan of grappler spider. Other than that I like the deck. Didn't think anyone would do a spider tribal. :). Perhaps instead of grappler, sporecap. 1/5 for 2 other and 1 green. Great defensive creature.

thanks for your feedback but if you can see that i am trying to get away from deference, i wanna make it a slight win condition but smashing out over run for the win.

so... a 2/1 for two mana over a 1/5 for 3 mana? I am confused I think that sporecap is an all around better creature than grappler. 1 less power, but 4 more toughness. can't be gutshotted, can't be shocked, can't even be galvanic blasted. but, that is just my opinion. :) what ev. :)

That one damage and more mana does alot of damage to his aggro base he is doing that much right.

I guess, but it is easy to kill though, because of the 1 toughness.

Why do you have Windswept Heath and Verdant Catacombs? If there was anything with landfall I'd understand, but there isn't. Nonetheless it's mono-green so losing life for just forests? You have the ramp with other cards like rampant growth so why the Windswept Heath and Verdant Catacombs?

Are you slow? sac-land take lands out of your deck giving you a higher chance of drawing non-land cards!

To keep with the theme but add nasty surprises, I'd think about adding Spidery Grasp. At least I think that's what it's called...it's the instant from Innistrad that lets you untap and pump a creature. 'd also maindeck 4 Arachnus Webs for control. I understand you're going for beatdown, but unless you can win on turn 4, some removal is necessary

i love the idea of swarming your opponent with spiders you should check out my spider swarm deck http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=335602

really sweet deck, I thought about making an all spider deck once but it turns out that if you put some insects in there with deathtouch plus that swarmyard land, it eliminates the need to pump everything up and lets you get some more mana ramp and creatures. check out the deck I made:

Why dont you take out the lands that let you search for a land and just put in forests... all they do is slow your land drop

0
Posted 15 May 2012 at 14:33

ya I think moose is right, you don't have any swamps to search for, maybe since you put those swarmyards in there? replace those mana searchers with a forest/swarmyard or non-basic mana ramper.

spider are awesome and totally undervalued!

well I cannot be sure but i think you are new to magic if you are not aware of how awesome sac lands are! they dont just get one land out of your deck it gets two! tharefore making your deck smaller with less lands so you have a better chance of drawing somthing thats going to win you the game.

0

ok wtf sac lands are Awesome think of them as a forest now sac it and get another forest now you are effectivly thinning your deck making it so you have less lands in your deck so you have a higher chance of drawing non-land cards. Come in does no one play professionally.

calm down yes FETCH (not sac lands) lands do help this deck and any deck by that matter with their draw, but are not necessarily a necessity to this deck. If you are a unprofessional that you claim to be then you should put a use to your verdant cattacombs by running overgrown tombs and maelstrom pulses and thoughtseize and just run playable cards instead of dorky 2/1 spiders for 2 mana. If you really want help with this deck you should fix up your mana base (6 of your lands come into play tapped which is a huge problem for aggro decks) and instead of running tone or two in the sideboard and then main deck some living wishes this will help reduce mulligans and mana fixing since swarmyard is a utility card that is better as a search option via living wish or knight of the reliquary. also many of your creatures are terribly inefficant I know its a tribal deck but this does NOT mean every creature has to be a spider instead try cards like llanwar elves scaveging ooze tarmogoyf thrun etc. also green suns zeniths wouldnt hurt at all. Their is a lot more that would help your deck with consistancy and playability but I will just leave you with this for now.

^^^^^

If he wanted to run all the best power-cards in green and black, he'd do it. Obviously, this deck is meant to be Tribal Spiders, not "G/B Good Stuff". Thrun and Goyf and Pulse and Ooze and Reliquary and whatever else? Heck, why not just pull all the spiders out of the deck completely at that point?

That said, I'd personally run more Penumbra Spiders. Anything that can come back after being killed will help you considerably. You'll need to make sure you're getting the most bang for your buck, because most tribes' creatures will outclass yours.

Have you considered Kessig Recluse?
I'd think about putting in 4x Penumbra Spider = card advantage.

0

Neither of those cards give card advantage....

As far as this deck is concerned, I don't think that Spiders is a good tribe.
Also, you claim that you wanted your deck to be faster and not involve Arachnus Spinner/Web, but you have a bunch of ramp. That seems to be a good card for this deck, especially with all the ramp you have. If you want to be more aggressive before you could ever play Arachnus Spinner, then take out the ramp cards and just play creatures and cards like Gaea's Anthem (also add that).
Regarding your land structure, keep the Fetch lands, but dump some of the "comes into play tapped" lands. They're going to really slow down your early game aggression and make it near impossible. Without any 1-drop creatures, I just fail to see how this could be an effective aggro-deck.

Agreeing with this^ guy... also Gaea's Anthem is the shiznit with this deck... cuz then your grappler will be a 3/2. Just saying. >.>

Kessig Recluse is a good spider, though more expensive than the other ones you have in the deck, it is a 2/3 reach deathtouch, it may come in handy since it can kill whatever it deals damage to (except an indestructible of course). It has helped me in a few of the decks i have made.

I have to agree with Tychandirr, Coat of arms is a neccesity in most tribal decks ( I play 4 in a relentless rats deck) I mean it's just WOW. 4 spiders+Coat=+3+3 on all of them.
