Madden 24: Using OP Blitzes to Build an Unbeatable Defense

Blitz is a crucial part of becoming better in Madden 24, especially on defense. While it is a high-risk strategy, the rewards can be enormous if you have the right one. So in this guide, we will show you how to use OP Blitzes to build an unbeatable defense in the game.

3-4 Odd/Under: Pinch Buck 0

Playbooks: ARI, BAL, CHI, DEN, DET, GB, HOU, LAR, MIA, NE, NYG, NYJ, PIT, TB, TEN, WAS

This is a great general formation blitz to prevent both rushes and passes. It balances having a lot of larger players on the line without compromising too much in pass coverage. The Pinch Buck O is a great play within this formation that brings incredibly pressure quickly. This does brilliantly against play action, bootlegs, and any quarterback that likes to roll out from inside pressure.

If you make sure to control whoever has man coverage on the running back, then you can bring an extra body if your opponent keeps the RB in to block. Even though this is from base formation, it can be used against shotgun-heavy offenses, especially if you tinker with your lineup and put some man coverage experts at your safety spots.

4-3 Over: Will Blitz 3 Press

Playbooks: BUF, CAR, CIN, CLE, DAL, DET, IND, KC, MIN, NE, NO, OAK, PHI

Next, we want to show you a blitz out of the 4-3 Over. The name of the defense is the Wil Blitz 3 Press. The 4-3 Over-Will Blitz 3 Press Pressure comes from the right outside linebacker. The cool thing about this Blitz setup is that it does not give up any of the default pass coverage.

The 4-3 Over-Will Blitz 3 Press is an easy defense to set up because it requires just a few pre-snap adjustments. One thing to keep in mind is that if you release the left outside linebacker, he will then turn and face a different direction. If your opponent catches on to this, he will know there is a blitz coming. However, say you call the 4-3 Over, Cover 3, skypress, and move the left outside linebacker and release him. He will setup the same way as he would if you were running the 4-3 Over-Will Blitz 3 Press. Which is nice because it will keep him from knowing what defense you have called.

3-4 Odd: Pinch Dog 2

Playbooks: ARI, BAL, CHI, DEN, DET, GB, HOU, LAR, MIA, NE, NYG, NYJ, PIT, TB, TEN, WAS

A cover-two-zone blitz this time, but it is again out of that 3-4 odd look. You need to run a few tweaks pre-snap to this, but once you get it down, it provides a nice base to then play around with.

First, spread your D-line and set them to slant outside. Then base align and set to QB contain. Now walk a middle linebacker up into a gap and make sure to hold him there for a second after the snap before dropping back to cover the middle of the field. With this blitz, you are a little weak against trips and will need to make a few zone adjustments, but it works very well against balanced offensive formations and especially outside runs and play action. So there you have it—three blitzes that don't require sending the house to get consistent and reliable pressure.
