Hey guys


I orgenized a Cube Draft yesterday for my birthday and it was an absolute blast. Man, Cube Draft is fun and it gets better every time. We drafted twice and played 3 rounds for each draft with a group of 6 players.

Officially I went 6-0 but I played an additional 7th round while waiting for 2 other guys to finish their round and lost that round so unofficially i went 6-1.

My first deck featured (for what I remember)

Phantasmal Image (which was broken good)

And then some, but these are the ones I remember and they won me 3 out of 3 rounds. The Tinker was a gamble, it was my second pick, first booster, and aside from Myr Battlesphere I didn't find any artifact bombs. On top of that I had both Battlesphere and thinker in my hand almost each game and tinker didn't really do anything for me.
On the other hand, Phantasmal Image + My Battlesphere or Siege-gang or Sphinx was awesome. Last round I started with Sol Ring two games in a row and had Lord of Shatterskull Pass out on 2 each game, nuts!!

Another cool play was Consuming Vapors with my opponent having 3 good creatures in play and I have My Battlephere out. He sacs one of his guys and I follow up with tinker on one of the my tokens to get Sol Ring. So I could play Hellkite next turn in case I didn't draw into a land.
On his turn he creates a token with Nath of the Gilt-Leaf discarding my fact or Fiction. On my turn Consuming Vapors goes on the stack, I play Hellkite in response and shoot both his token and Nath of the Gilt-Leaf, then let consuming vapors resolve and I win.

I saw some pretty sick decks. On of my opponents played weenie with Armaggedon. One played Sun Titan+Dauntless Escort+Saffi Eriksdotter which was sick, I got lucky playing against that guy, I raced him 2 of the 3 games we played and went 2-1. Behemoth Sledge totally killed me game 2.

The second draft I drafted a 4 color deck that was 90% UB Mill/Control and dipped green for maelstrom Pulse and Red for Inferno Titan

It was a pretty sick deck, Forced Fruition is a bomb in draft and I had a nice combo with Fire and Ice and Swans. I also had enough removal to see the mill strategy through. Nemesis of Reason never played a part, it was just a good blocker.

The only game I lost I lost to an agressive discard deck, My slow control deck was dead against discard. Scepter of Fugue was a bomb against my deck.

Card of the day for me was Phantasmal Image, it is so insane at mana cost 2 and I totally underestimated it. I knew it was good but man, it's crazy good in draft. Second draft I played the Vesuvan Shapeshifter, which is my favourite clone of all time and it was not near as broken as Phantasmal Image.

anyway, that was the end of a fun day.
