Can counter creature's ability ?

Is there a way to counter creature ability? If can , how? If a creature of mine has an activated ability and i choose to play it then it is a spell and goes on the stack so my opponent can play a counterspell and cancel it.

Activated abilities are not spells, they are abilities. A counterspell would not work on an activated ability. The only way I know of to counter an activated ability is the card Voidslime.

Alternatively, you could use Arrest to make it so that the creature is incapable of using the activated ability. And I looked up other cards to counter activated abilities: Azorius Guildmage, bind, Rimewind Cryomancer, Squelch, etc.
