Thoughts on U/W Control/Permission /w Knights

Hello,

Building a Control and Permission Blue deck with White Knights.

Want to know some thoughts on my build. It's still in Progress but I feel like it's a decent setup. :manau::manaw:

your deck isn't standard legal and you posted on the standard legal deck development forum. You should have picked the legacy forum.

You could use Control Magic instead of Domestication, it does the same for the same cost but without the drawback.

When you build a heavy permission deck you should not play creatures that require you to tap out. Play stuff you can play at instand speed like Pestermite. Student of Warfare seems ok as it is a 1 drop but you can't level it at instant speed so you loose the benefit.

Playing green instead of white would probably give you some beatsticks for low mana cost like Quirion Dryad, Vinelasher Kudzu, Nimble Mongoose, Werebear to name some of the cheap ones (Tarmogoyf would be one of the expensive ones).
Combine hitters like those with Delver of secrets and you have yourself a cheap control beatdown deck.

More like the forums aren't all that active :( Maybe you could use Azorius Signet instead of Manalith, Sol Ring over Ur-Golem's Eye, and a Jace Beleren could be fit in somewhere for card advantage and maybe a few more counterspells could be added. What Seth said about Domestication is also a great idea.

Sorry Seth,

I didn't realize it wasn't Standard Legal. Not too keen on those specific rules, just know the rules of the game and how to play and such.

I appreciate the info and suggestions for my deck. I had looked at a possible :manag: Deck with a bunch of elves buffing each other up.

The other thing I was thinking of was getting some cheaper Knights. Caravan escorts or Knight Errant's and keep the Exemplar's and Vindicator's for extra buffing power on each other.

Hey, thanks!

I like that Sol Ring! I was also thinking of dropping some Gilded Lotus cards in there for the extra mana boost also but those cost a lot to get out.

If you play casual and use cards from mixed sets throughout magics history just post in the Eternal Format Deck Development you can't go wrong there.

Another something to concider for your deck is going with manlands like Mishra's Factory. They still require some mana investment but they are pretty good beatings in a control deck.

Traditionally in tournament play heavy control based UW decks used to play something like Decree of Justice to create a bunch of tokens at instant speed (end of opponents turn) mid game as a win factor while countering everything else. These days White Sun's Zenith is a very good option as well.
Another route for a UW control deck is Sword of the Meek + Thopter Foundry combo to create tokens at instant speed. It's very powerful and both combo pieces can be fetched with tutors like Enlightened Tutor or Fabricate. And again you can keep mana open to counter and dump excess mana into Thopter Foundry at end of opponents turn.
A land like Academy Ruins makes the combo stronger as well.

Thanks Seth! I apologize for posting in the wrong forum! :(

I had been thinking of using Elspeth Tirel and slapping together a soldier Token as a possibility. Thanks for the card suggestions, I'll be stopping by my local card shop and picking a few of these puppies up. :D

After I get all the cards for my current construct I'm going to play around with that a little bit to see what I think and how it plays out. Then I may restructure it as a token deck later for fun.
