what is standard?

What exactly is standard. Everything i read says standard is...
Last two current blocks and core set.
What confuses me is 2015 is out but people are telling me that 2014 is still standard too. And mtg vault counts 2014 too.
But not according to the rules i read.
Should be return to ravica, theros and 2015?

Can anyone clear this up?

Standard covers the most recent two blocks and last 2 core sets until the release of a new block, in which case the oldest core set and previous block rotates out.

So when return to ravnica came out, core 2012 and innistrad rotated out because there was a new block, and the oldest coreset was dropped, and when theros was released 2013 and innistrad rotated out, etc.

so for until khans is out we have RTR block, 2014, Theros block, and 2015.
After we will have theros 2015 and khans.
