Deck discussion for Help? GW Aggro T2

I really like this decklist. You have some strong synergy's in here, for example Beast within and Skinshifter. However, there are a few things I'd change here.

At first, I'd replace cultivate by either explore or rampant growht (explore has my preference). That change will really help you to fill out your mana-curve, as you currently have a bit too much of 3-mana cards.

Secondly, I don't think I'd play acidic slime here mainboarded. I'd seriously replace it with Vengevine, as that card is great to discard with the fauna shaman, and get back with a couple of squadron hawks.

Third thing: why surgical extraction sideboard? In what match-up would you board it in, and what exactly would it do for you? Unless combined with something like inquisition of kozilek, duress, or despise, it won't really do much for you. I'd completely remove it and board in something like naturalize or mental misstep to counter control-matchups. Obstinate Baloth would also be a great sideboard card in that case.

4th thing is about the lands. I'd seriously play 2 more stirring wildwood and 2 more tectonic edge in here instead of plains and forests. and i really mean mainboarded, not sideboard. I know the wildwood slows things down a bit, but the aggressive pressure it can provide is really worth your while. Tectonic edge will be great against creeping tar pit, as you don't have any other answer to that manland in the deck nor sideboard.

5th thing: vines of vastwood in sideboard? again, in what matchups will it save you? What will it do for you? I'd replace it with Asceticism, or more copies of Thrun, the Last Troll. Garruk, Primal hunter could also be really nice in this deck, but I assume you don't want too many high mana cards as you really need to focus on the beatdown. I think mimic vat could be a nice card in here? If your opponent uses day of judgment to clear the board, you can manage to get a vengevine or even an acidic slime on the vat, it can seriously screw your opponent. As for Vines of Vastwood, I'd consider replacing it with 4 copies of Timely Reinforcements? This card will help you out big time if playing against any other aggressive deck, and especially against red decks, those 3 guys but also the 6 life you get from it will really put them nice and screwed.

The deck idea looks nice. I really like those swords of feast and famine in here, (im a big fan of them) Taking an extra turn for free by equipping it to birds of paradise on turn 3 (imagining you dropped it on turn 2) can, especially early game, completely overwhelm your opponent. Good job on the list... I really like the deck.

Surgical Extraction is for Valakut. Acidic Slime or Tec Edge the Valakut land and remove it from the game using Surgical Extraction is the best way to shut that deck down.

I do agree on Rampant Growth, it does turn the clock faster dropping the extra land on turn 2 and although explore gives me card draw the possibility of drawing into a land every time is not good enough to run it.

Vengevine does seem like a good alternative but then i would have to replace something else with the shaman. 2 Mirrian Crusaders instead is possibly the right answer.

When it comes to the lands i think running 3 Stirring Wildwood and 4 Tectonic Edges main board would be a better alternative keeping my basic land count high enough to the point that Sunpetal Grove does not start to slow me down. Then removing the other Tectonic Edge out of the side board.

In My side board i think Timely Reinforcements is a great idea. Celestial Purge should also be in the sideboard as well. 3 of each card will be added to the list.

Thank you for the feed back, I plan on running this deck at FNM and i believe it will do fantastically and will only be better thanks to your input.

I don't think Surgical Extraction is the best answer your colors have against Valakut. You already have tectonic edge and acidic slimes, but if you're so worried I think that Leyline of Sanctity will help out much more. Not only does it protect you from the valakut triggers, but it also completely blocks out the disruption spells you're likely to face when playing against black or blue/black control decks. It's also great to board in against burn-heavy decks. I'd probably board it in against every red deck that's planning on burning you down.

Rampant growth is a strong, solid ramp card but I don't think that's what you need in here. My guess is to play explore over rampant growth, because if you draw into rampant growth later you'd wished it was explore. You also have your deck curved out in a way that a turn 2 rampant growth won't be your favorite spell to cast: you'll rather resolve squadron hawk or fauna shaman.

I completely agree with you on the land thing.

No problem. if you have the time, you can check out my decklists if you want to. I'd appreciate the feedback on my decks. Good luck on your FNM...
