Deck Description

I am actually really excited about how well this came out. I built this deck around Mortician Beetle. However, like most black decks it seems now a days, it quickly became a vampire deck. Chainer's Edict and Geth's Verdict force opponents to sacrifice creatures. Gatekeeper of Malakir and Ogre Marauder help facilitate this as well. Innocent Blood and Smallpox will cause you to lose creatures. However, that's no problem when you're sacrificing a Bloodghast, Perilous Myr, or Kalastria Highborn. Gravepact just adds insult to injury. Finally, after a few turns and everybody's graveyards are full, play mortivore and swing for big damage. .

Deck discussion for Like Lambs to the Slaughter

Update: I've taken out Perilous Myr in favor of Vengeful Pharaoh. At first I wasn't sure if it met the deck concept, but I've tested it out, and having another recyclable creature card- especially a high end one- made the deck play much better.

Nice deck, maybe try replacing innocent blood with cruel edict. But i do see the combo of gatekeeper+kalastria highborn+innocent blood and when you have grave pact out im sure it even better. The only problem I feel like thats the only combo where this card benefits you and that can be restricting. Gatekeepers are 2/2 anyways so why not just use cruel edict and then attack?

Besides that the only thing i can think of is maybe trying out sheoldred, whispering one, in place of pharaoh. I think he really suits sacrifices decks to a T, but if your running smallpox he can quickly become a dead draw. Maybe try him out and see how he runs?

Thanks for commenting! Sheoldred, Whispering One is a great card. Its expensive, but it does fit the style deck perfectly. I'll play around with it tonight in Magic Workstation, and I'll see if it works for my deck.

I'll definitely reconsider Innocent blood. usually I have a Bloodghast in play when I cast it (Bloodghast also works with Kalastria Highborn). Between Smallpox and Innocent Blood, I can keep sacrificing Bloodghast over and over again. I have been considering adding more edicts, though, so i'll try it both ways.

Thanks again for your input. Good luck with your deck. I wouldn't be surprised if it makes first page.
