Deck Description

Thought about building something like this the moment I saw Phenax spoiled.

I'm a bit concerned about the sample card draws this thing is giving me...so tweaking seems necessary.

I chose to run as close to mono blue as possible for consistency, and because I'd rather have a hand full of walls than a hand full of Dimir mill spells......I like walls. The devotion from the higher permanent count also compliments Phenax and Nykthos.

Explanations for cards as follows:

Main Deck:

AEtherling- combos well with Nykthos + Phenax if you use his 4th ability...and in worst case scenario you can still beat them to death with it, but that just seems...less sexy.
Cloudfin Raptor- Potentially evolves to highest toughness of any other relevant one drop I could find, combos with Bident for card draw.
Frostburn Weird- I chose this over Murmuring Phantasm despite the 1 lower toughness because of the possibility of it actually killing early aggro creatures when you block with it and because it gives an extra devotion.
Hover Barrier- High toughness for Phenax and it has flying...which seems good.
Wall of Frost- High toughness for Phenax, 2 devotion and it punishes attackers, can combo with Bident to force opponents into it.
Omenspeaker- I'm on the fence about this one, I was contemplating Judge's familiar but the higher toughness combos better with Phenax and Cloudfin, and the scry is just so good...
Cyclonic Rift- bounce something or combo with Nykthos and bounce EVERYTHING.
Fated Infatuation- seems really strong. It will copy Wall of Frost (including the devotion) at instant speed, so you can "flash" in an extra defender or "save" a creature from a removal spell.
Rapid Hybrization - mostly because it's amusing to me, but its also a 1 mana spell that will turn a scary creature into something that has a 0% chance of getting through the walls.
Triton Tactics: makes everything a Wall of Frost, lol. It also combos with Phenax...pay 1 mana and mill an additional 6. It also helps against "tap" cards that want to tap down my walls.
Bident of Thassa- For the card draw and for forcing things to slam into Wall of Frost.
Phenax- He's just pretty important for the deck...............yah
Jace, Memory Adept- I chose this over the Architect of Thought for obvious mill potential and because you can more safely draw cards with him than with Architect.
Dimir Guildgate- Because I'm too poor for the other one...and let's be honest, so are you.
Temple of Deceit- For the Phenax
Nykthos- For ALL the manas. Combos with AEtherling+Phenax and Cyclonic rift.

Sideboard:

I don't really know what to tell you...they all seemed like good ideas at the time. I'm still on the fence about the Judge's Familiar and about not running Aetherize.
