Deck Description

A new deck I'm designing, based around Karn the Released. Myrs for mana ramp into a Karn or a big black creature; use Karn to exile a few fatties and reset the game, thus opening with a Grave Titan on the field :P

To actually pull this off, however, it would need a fair amount of control. Any suggestions for how to do this in mono-black, or at least improve the creature/land/draw balance would be much appreciated. Or should I consider going dual blue, with less ramp more counterspells and control? It would probably be a better option, really, but also slower. And some of the creatures would have to go.

Bonehoard = Screamwhip
Phyrexian Vatmother = Phyrexian Chancellor
Malakir Bloodwitch = Chancellor of the Dross
Duress = Praetor's Grip
Memnarch = Karn the Released

Also Vampire Hexmage = Hex Parasite, but the Hexmage is better so I prefer to keep her till Zendikar goes out of standard in October. Of course, at that point a lot of other cards will have to be scrapped too so I'll probably just play the deck like this and start over in the fall :D
For a longer lasting deck, Nirkana Revenant could maybe be replaced with Caged Sun, but I really like her +1/+1 ability, and the sun is an artifact, so there's good and bad.

All suggestions for additions/improvements are welcome, as are comments on how the deck might shape up when additional Phyrexia cards are revealed :)

Deck discussion for Black Behemoth

Ooooh....interesting thought....

Karn the Released could work exceptionally well in this deck....he's an interesting Planeswalker with powerful abilities, but I don't think he'll see much real use in tournament. On the other hand, this deck is perfect for him...exile 2 big fatties from my hand, then reset the game and come in swinging! Also, the control power from his -3 ability could be a huge addition to this deck against everything from Pyromancer Ascension to Emeria and Sun Titan.

What do you think?

Also, if I'm going to go there, what about Leaden Myrs for mana ramp? If nothing else when they die they'll just trip the Gravelord :) I think I'll add them in, see how helpful they are...

Why use Leaden Myr over Plague Myr?

Simply the fact that it provides black mana instead of colorless, and the new Phyrexian Chancellor requires four black to cast. A Leaden Myr in my opening hand would allow me to cast a chancellor on turn 3. Although I'm working on balance, if I take out some of these I might add both just to have more ramp and food for the gravelord.
