Deck discussion for Cats 4.0

just a though, but what purpouse does having all of the ajanis serve? unless this is a deck based around flavor and not function, you don't need all the ajanis. also, mayael's aria serves no purpouse in this deck either

Triggering Mayael's Aria only requires having 1 creature on the BF w/ power 5 or greater, at which point you put a +1/+1 counter on each of your creatures at the beginning of each of your upkeeps, & there are a number of ways to accomplish that in this deck, such as monstrosity w/ Fleecemane Lion & lifegain (via Sovereign, Caracel, & Hero's Reunion) w/ Ajani's Pridemate. 4 out of 5 of the Ajani's can provide +1/+1 counters, & 2 can provide lifegain. Flavor does seem to be a considerable factor here, but discounting someone's choices w/o bothering to look closely at them doesn't really serve a constructive purpose. Also, you made no recommendation as to how you think the deck might be improved, which s/b par for the course when offering critique...otherwise, again, it's not constructive.

I appreciate the point Umoonpuca made about making suggestions instead of just nonconstructive criticism. Unfortunately I haven't the wealth of knowledge many Vaulters here have, so I won't be making any suggestions. I merely want to mention that in the case that you were under this one particular impression (that I will state) then you might appreciate the facts as I understand them regarding two of your creature choices.

"Wild Nacatl" gives +1+1 when you have a Mountain and +1+1 when you have a Plains for a total of +2+2 to a 1/1. Sounds nice, but you only have 2 Plains and 1 Mountain in the deck.
Similarly, "Qasali Ambusher" offers free mana-cost and flash if you have a Forest AND a Plains; again with a total of only 3 lands in the whole deck that can make that card's text activate.

A basic land has the words Plains, Island, Swamp, Mountain or Forest actually written on it identifying is as that land type. Other non-basic land typically do not, thus they can not be considered a P, I, S, M or Forest.

There's a chance you already knew all of this, but in case it hadn't registered I thought you might appreciate that little tidbit.

I really enjoy the deck!

I appreciate that you appreciate the point! As regards the # of forests, plains, etc. in the deck, keep in mind that shock lands (such as Sacred Foundry) have 2 BL types, even though they're not BLs themselves. That being the case, there's actually 3 forests, 3 mountains, & 4 plains in this deck (assuming I counted correctly!). That being said, those #'s are still rather scant for supporting the abilities of the creatures you mentioned, so good catch! This isn't a budget deck, so it may be a reflection of what Gingerlife117 has in hand at the moment...given the expense involved, a lot of us acquire our lands over time.
