Deck Description

Basically i had this little obsession with ajani's pridemate when i first started playing, and as i got better at the game i eventually just stopped trying to make decks with it. At first i tried the mono white version as you'd expect and then I got experimental a tried to build UW pridemate deck with stormtide leviathans, seraphs angels and drogskol reavers and it only had like 20 lands (it was just as terrible as it sounds), a BW Pridemate deck which was marginally better, and then went on a spree of constantly trying to make a good pridemate decks on cockatrice that was truly my own, to no avail.

So i stopped building pridemate decks and moved on for a while.

Any way i came back to it after i had gained some knowledge and practice (as well as some help from a close friend who plays standard) and gave it another go. And after an entire year of editing, the deck eventually turned into this. I'd feel pretty confident to play this competitively now.

How to Play

Basically you wanna make your ajani's fat and swing as your first big aim. Your ideal start on the play is Soul's attendant/warden turn one, ajani pridemate turn 2 which gives you a life gain trigger = +1/+1 counter, they play a two drop: life gain trigger = +1/+1 counter and then you play a silverblade paladin for another +1/+1 counter and swing for 10. Ajani caller of the pride is also a pretty good turn 3 but it only swings for 8, but you get the added bonus of evasion. So for a 25 land deck, it can go pretty fast. Also you can net yourself extra card draw with wall of omens and flickering with restoration angel (cantrips for the win). Also if kitchen finks has a -1/-1 counter on it, then you can flicker it with a restoration angel to take the counter off of it, essentially giving it another life and giving you a life gain trigger on any soul's attendants in play as well as the trigger on the finks itself. It's also good for the 'Suprise my pridemate is now 5/5'. Also, dont be afraid to flicker a creature with a bunch of +1/+1 counters on it to save it, it's not ideal but it's better than it being dead.

Finks is good for board wipes, because this deck unfortunately commits a lot to it's board state in order to be powerful. Luckily, on the play ajani's pridemate will often be out of reach before an anger of the gods, finks is pretty bad against anger but good against pyroclasm and any 'destroy all creatures' effects like verdict. resto angel and archangel are both out of range for anger of the gods, but in general it is a weakness to this deck, but the explosiveness of this deck really makes up for it as well as the constant shit that the enemy player has to deal with.
