Deck Description

All about getting out lord of atlantis/ Tidal warrior(or using spreading seas). Then making my creatures bigger. Works pretty fast and well. ponder because my deck relies on getting certain cards and also because ponder is amazingl.

Deck discussion for BeefyBlue Merfolk

I suggest adding some counters and removal. Maybe Familiar's Ruse (merfolk artwork) and oblvion ring. Ponder is nice too to help with deck manipulation.

i think your really missing the overall point of this deck, its a shame you rated it low because you think it needed things that don't have to do with what i'm trying to accomplish. i don't want counters and removals and i don't want an oblivion ring, they don't do anything for my deck. This isn't a control deck. But thanks for the advice nonetheless.

Ok, it's rare to see Merfolk these day it seems; but I like this deck. It's very effective & it's combinations work very well together. The only thing I'd probably recommend is that you up your Islands to maybe 15x/16x & drop the plains; considering Blue is the predominant color within this deck, it would probably help speed it up for you. Another way to speed it up, is to drop your land total to 33.33% or 1/3'rd. Then you could up another creature or two.

But very well built, I like this one boss; goodjob! I give this a 9.3!

thanks thats good advice, im thinking 20 lands, 12 island and 8 plains. what do you think?

That would be solid. Alot of my sTr8 60-card decks that are bi-color I use 12/8 combo alot; usually leaning more lands towards the one that is predominant. Do it up boss, then give it a shot. I think you'll be pleased with it's performance & let me know how it works for ya'!

I know you don't want counters, but Lullmage Mentor fits this deck perfectly. The tap 7 merfolks with stoneybrook school master would equal infinite counters. Also surgespanner and drowner of secrets work well here. as of right now, you need a way to tap them other than attacking.

lullmage is good and ill defiantly think about putting him in. As for needing some way to tap merfolk, thats what summon the school is for...i thought that was apparent. currently, i end up playing summon the school twice per turn (stonbrook banneret reduces its mana cost to make it easier), and if i have two stonybrook banneret's out i can play it 3 times a turm. Usually i end up tapping the tokens i put out. So adding more cards that have effects triggered by getting tapped would actually be good, even without adding something to tap them. Thanks for the advice.

I would not be comfortable relying on just one spell to net me tokens. Additional ways to tap would make the deck more consistent and less likely to be foiled.

the whole point of the deck is summon the school, other than that i just added some cards that do something when they are tapped. You seem to think my deck is centered around tapping cards, its not, thats just an added bonus.

You say that but almost all of your creatures are focused around tapping!
