Deck Description

I compiled this deck together by myself, with some very helpful suggestions by my friends at my local gaming store. Thank you all!

How to Play

Turn creatures sideways, Play burn spells, and win.
Onen notable "combo" Is playing your Steppe Lynx, and Fetches then Cracking multiple fetches at once to give Steppe Lynx more than +2/+2. If you drop and crack a Fetch, and then drop a land Steppe Lynx will be a 4/5 until end of turn. Also, If you Drop a Fetch, Steppe lynx goes to 2/3, then crack 2 other previously dropped fetches, you will have Steppe Lynx at 6/7 until end of turn competing with Goyf most of the time.

Deck discussion for Burny Baby Zoo

I like the thoughtseize addition, and the black splash let's you play abrupt decay, which is the best removal spell in modern! Cool deck, +1

Nice deck man, I like the splash for black. I would consider running Engineered Explosives and Torpor Orb. Maybe in place of the planeswalkers even tho they both fit very well in this deck, I'm of the opinion that your sideboard should consist of situational cards which benefit greatly in some much ups but useless in most.

Thanks i like the splash black too! I really liked the disruption in conjunction with the rip your face off mentality of this deck. Please leave a like.

If you're only splashing black for Thoughtseize and an underpowered Tribal Flames it doesn't seem worthwhile. I feel like at that point you're better off just playing Naya zoo. if you do wanna keep the black i would suggest maybe Abrupt Decay somewhere in the 75. i also would rather be playing Inquisition of Kozilek than Thoughtseize, but i guess you can be aggressive enough to that -2 life to not hurt too much. Siege Rhino is something to think about also, that could really make the black splash worth while. It's 4 mana, but it has a huuuge impact if it resolves. this guy is the real deal.

If you get a chance, could you check out this modern deck i'v been working on?

Cool new updates, but i question how good steppe lynx is with only 20 lands. i know half are fetches, but goblin guide may be a better use of this slot

So, i just played this last night and it 2-2 for Modern FNM Here's the breakdown:
1.Baby Zoo(mine) Vs. Tribal Zoo
0-2 Lost
2. Baby Zoo Vs. Jund
0-2 Lost
3. Baby Zoo Vs. G/R Tron
2-1 Win
4. Baby Zoo Vs. Bye
BYE
Of course In that last round it was a bye But, I'd have gone against Merfolk was the last deck i went against and I have a lot of SB options against Merfolk. Of course there's no way to definitly know, but it would be a better match-up for me. Because of Crazy Aggro, Crazy Burn, and Good Sideboard options.

Thank you for being honest with your answers!!! What cards did you just lose to when your opponent played them? Anything you played just feel really weak? Let's tech!

So, Against Tribal, It was just a Slug-fest. I would drop all my little dude and swing, he would take it go to 12. He'd play tribal flames, I go to 15. I would drop some more dudes, and throw a bolt and a helix at his face. He goes to 6. He Paths a majority of my dudes, helixes and drops a Goyf. Then after Goyf bringing me down to 8. He dropped Geist of Traft. Geist carries to victory both games.

Against Jund, I'm doing my thing dropping Nacatls, and Lions and swings consistanly. Things are going pretty well, with his Confidants doing some of the work for me. He then Inqisitions me for my 2 Steppe Lynxs. He drops 2 Goyfs off of Confidant. I"m trIyna block some of the goyfs to killem but they are just to big, in 2 games, Goyf Tramples my face down.

Against G/R Tron, I'm doing my thing, and he's ramping and drops a Wurmcoil. I swing for 10 including Bloodrushed Ghor-Clan. He takes it. Swings with wurmcoil a couple times and kills me. The last two games, I sided in Destructive Revelry and when Wurmcoil hit the board, I destructive revelried it. He was defenseless, I swung consistantly and threw bolts at his face. I won the last 2 games.

My last round was a bye. But Against Merfolk I'd have to rely on Pyroclasm to get ride of llittle merfolks and path for Master of waves. I think it would have gone in my favor.
Burns a little easier because their creature suite is easier to deal with and my creatures are beefier.

I like the looks of this, but the only real problem that I think that this would run into is if someone survived the early game beat down then you might have a problem. These creatures are big for early game, but against mid to late game creatures they're pretty small. Maybe Woolly Thoctar would be nice. Honestly though, I wouldn't know what to take out for him...

Hm, Ghor-Clan?

Hm, I like Ghor-Clan though, a nice +4/+4 and trample for two mana in early game to get past a chump blocker could be really nice in a fast deck. Honestly, it looks like a pretty solid deck right now and I'm having a really hard time justifying what to take out if anything. Possibly sideboard it against mid game decks I guess.

Most of my play time is just casual tabletop stuff with my friends, so not really, no.

Well, that's why you don't like Firewalker as much and you don't appreciate Rending Volley. Rending Volley absolutely wrecks a lot of the key cards in Merfolk Modern, Firewalker not only helps my own burn suite (it makes my Lightning Helixes 3 damage, 4 life. And my Lightning Bolts 3 damage, 1 life. ) But it also makes my opponent's bolts Shocks. and His Helixes 2 Damage 3 life. Also, he is impossible to remove if you are playing pure mono red burn.

Ah, I see. Welp, I'm out of ideas as to what to take out for him in that case. As I said, this looks like a pretty solid build already and I was grasping at straws trying to find something to replace with him, but I really can't find anything... oh well.
