Deck Description

For reference, refer to my previous Modern UW Merfolk list : http://www.mtgvault.com/hurrikane/decks/a-more-sophisticated-fish/

When I saw Master of Waves, I got really excited, scooped up a playset as quick as I could, and went to work thinking of how I could put them to use. Who knows if this will be competitive (I'll test it at Modern Monday at my lgs asap), but I think it'll be a blast either way!

My idea is a more midrange rework of my aggro UW merfolk deck based on the same beatdown method, but with Cold-Eyed Selkie and Coralhelm for reach, and Master of Waves for some very high value. The deck is more or less the same as before, just with the major aggro players swapped out for the wider range cards. Also, I'm toying around with Swan Song instead of Mana Leak or Remand, mainly because I feel more comfortable dealing with the catch than I do in my other Fishies deck.

Obviously Muta and Vial are still there by necessity, as well as Silvergill and Cursecatcher. I'd like to have four of all the lords, but unlike the faster deck, this isn't just 80% 2-mana lords; there are actually some utility/value cards in there as well. Oh, and I tossed in two more islands because of the three and four mana costs.

Anyway, I'm definitely looking for feedback on this one, so check it out, comment with ideas and criticism, and cheers!

Deck discussion for Fishies Medium-Well

Thassa, God of the Sea maybe?

Yeah, I don't have any copies of Thassa as it is, but I do think she would be a strong addition to the deck. The scry effect alone is hugely helpful. It would just be tough to find something to take out for her; I'd probably just end up thinning Silvergill, Cold-Eyed Selkie, and one of the lords by one each and throwing three Thassas in.
