Deck Description

M15 is ridiculous guys. It gave us so much broken cards to work with and what more, it's a core set! I'd expect basic stuff, but no. We got a reprint of Chord of Calling, a card made by NOTCH, and of course the cards I'm using today.

I haven't done any research on what tempo decks exactly do, but this deck certainly reminds me of the name "tempo" because of all the artifacts and flyers running around (artifacts are back guys, and man are they devastating). You could essentially call this deck R/U aggro because of how fast it can kill an opponent.

I will also mention that this deck is around $40. That is dirt-cheap fellas, especially for the world of standard. Well, unless it didn't count the M15 cards. Point being, it's not that expensive to play.

How to Play

I'll just explain every card's role in the deck.

4 ORNITHOPTER - This is your basic 0-mana costing Artifact that has plenty of uses. It's 0 mana, so cast it as a spell to play a 3-turn Illusory Angel. You could give it Ensoul Artifact to make it a 5/5 Flyer nearly on turn 2. I'll explain how devastating that is. How about using it as Shrapnel Blast fodder to deal 5 damage to anything? Insane, right?

4 HYPNOTIC SIREN - It's really just a basic 1/1 flyer to tie in with the other creatures in the deck. There is some synergy with this though. Turn 1, you can play this, then turn 2, if your opponent is about to kill it with something small, then you can return it to the hand to play Quickling, an even stronger flyer. But really other than that, it's just a basic 1/1 flyer. If you plan to stall longer for it's bestow cost, be my guest.

4 QUICKLING - a 2/2 flyer for 2 mana. It has decent uses. You could cast this freely by playing an Ornithopter or Tormod's Crypt. You could save your Hypnotic Siren or Illusory Angel from removal by returning them to hand safely. If you have 5 mana, you could play this, after you attacked with your Illusory Angel, then recast Illusory Angel for a blocker. Quickling has it's uses.

4 ILLUSORY ANGEL - Holy crap, a 4/4 Flyer for 3 mana? That's a little nuts don't you think? What's that? You need to cast a spell first? ORNITHOPTER dude! You might as well keep your 0 mana-costing artifacts in your hand and then play this. There's plenty of cheap spells in the deck that could help you cast this card, and it's just simply stupid that it's an early-game 4/4 flyer.

1 HOARDING DRAGON - This is basically your late-game creature if you ever come to it and don't die. You can live 5 turns right? It's still another 4/4 flyer that can get some artifacts to your hand if it dies as a bonus for when you need it, and it's not that expensive for a dragon creature.

4 ENSOUL ARTIFACT - Ohhhh, man. This card is one of the best in M15. It makes your artifacts 5/5's IN ADDITION, not becomes, to it's other types. Are you joking? Does that mean I can put this on an Ornithopter and make it a 5/5 FLYER? Does that mean I get to play this on a Daksteel Citadel and it's 5/5 Indestructible? WHAT!? This card is insane, and is all part of the 4-turn kill. Don't underestimate it, ever.

4 LIGHTNING STRIKE - Your basic burn spell, really. This aggro isn't that fast if your not at your luckiest. It can kill your opponent's small creatures, or it can deal some damage to your opponent when you need it. It's very useful.

4 SHRAPNEL BLAST - Just when you thought artifacts wern't going to be a thing yet, Shrapnel Blast get's reprinted. WOO! Don't mind me, I'm just going to sac my Ornithopters and Tormod's Crypt to deal insane damage early game and trust me, you're not going to like it. Darksteel Citadel is also an artifact, so why not use it's colorless mana to cast it, then deal the damage? And for what? to deal 5 damage? HA!

2 INTO THE VOID - Unsommon effects have been proved to be quite powerful. Into the Void isn't as bad as you think, because returning 2 creatures to hand, especially when they're tokens in which the case is they never go back, is a great effect. It get's through Indestructibility and gives you somewhat of a free turn so yeah.

3 VOID SNARE - 1 mana-costing "return target non-land permanent to owner's hand". Unsummon, but completely better but slower. Don't care, good card. You can also use this to play Illusory Angel Mid-game.

3 TORMOD'S CRYPT - Yes, the Crypt is in the mainboard. Why? Because it's basically a worse substitute of Ornithopter when I need it. It still helps cast Illusory Angel, it's still Shrapnel Blast fodder, and it's still Ensoul Artifact material. Also, it's still useful on the off-chance my opponent is running a reanimator deck with more reanimating spells running around.

4 DARKSTEEL CITADEL - Like I need all colored lands, and with that in mind, it's still an artifact, so use the above to your advantage.

I think the rest of the lands are self-explanitory. Temple of Abandons and Deceits are extra scry lands and that's all you need to know.

As I mentioned before, there is a lucky 4-turn kill that's really hard to go against.

Turn 1 - Any land, Ornithopter.
Turn 2 - Any land having at least 1 blue mana, Ensoul Artifact on Ornithopter, attack for 5 in the air.
Turn 3 - Any land, attack for 5 again. Opponent will have to have more than a burn spell in order to take out the 5/5 Flyer.
Turn 4 - Attack, Shrapnel Blast, deal 5 damage to the opponent, boom.

That's 20 damage Total. If you're opponent uses Shock lands post-M15, Lightning strike will also help.

Sideboard is also self-explanitory with it's counter spells and what-not.
