Deck Description

Well after a while, I've remade the Blood Artist deck again with green now. Surprisingly, there's only 8 green cards and those are my mana dorks, but still, they work pretty nicely.

Dutiful Thrull is still in here, and 4 of them. This is still because of their ability to regenerate so either Blood Artist or Falkenrath Noble can use their effects to gain life and have your opponent lose some.

Doomed Traveler made it because It can produce a soul when died.

Immortal Servitude is in here to bring back all my 1 mana-costing creatures so that they can be reused again.

Mentor of the Meek isn't anywhere to be seen now. the biggest reasons are that it costs too much for me to play it and I don't have much room to put the mentor in now.

Orzhov Charm is in here to either bring back a 1/1 or have some removal in the deck.

There is one Griselbrand for during late-game to then, after we gain a bunch of life, pay 7 and draw 7, which is a really nice effect because you need the draw so that you can play your 1/1's that will majorly affect the game. He's also a 7/7 flying lifelink for Christ sakes.

So those are the deck's changes, and it still works pretty well.

If we take a look here in the sideboard, you can see there are 4 Cartel Aristocrats in that. Why sideboard them? They have the ability to sack my creatures and let me gain life, but I personally don't think they do well against other aggro decks. I'll side them in once I don't face an aggro deck.

And after that, we have our typical sideboard material such as Rest in Peace, Elixir of Immortality, Witchbane Orb, and Thragtusk.

How to Play

The Goal of this deck is to play a bunch of small creatures, quickly, and use Blood Artist's effects (or Falkenrath Nobles) to eventually drain life from the opponents and win the game. So this deck can be really good against aggro decks since most of the time, I want my creatures to die by combat. If they don't attack, I'll just attack with my lingering souls, no problem, or side in my Cartel Aristocrats to do the sacking job for me.

So you just have to get your 1/1s first and then play blood artist once they start attacking with their deck. If they mill, sideboard the Elixir next time and try to attack them with lingering souls and what not. During the middle of the game, when you have 2+ Blood Artists and Falkenrath Nobles and more 1/1s, you just go about and try to live the match by blocking and gaining life from BA / FN. By the way, confused about how much life you gain from your BA / FNs? Here's the solution!

Life = Number of creatures died (including BA / FN) x Number of BA / FN on your side of the battlefield.

Try to remember that whenever you get stuck on that kind of situation.

Now don't so thinking "Oh, I can run this deck without the shock lands, I'll just run basics." Even the pro players know you need shock lands for a good, multicolored deck, especially for this one. There's a lot of 1-mana costing things that require 1 white mana, 1 green mana, and you really need the shock lands that tap for green so Arbor Elf can untap them.

So that's the deck. I hoped you like my detailed description for this deck, and I hope this deck idea gets some decent advice, if possible, because we all know how much we love comments. So have a fine day today!

oh, I totally forgot about that. Thanks! But I'll make that once I make the 4th attempt to make this deck. That is, if I'll remember, but thanks again!

really the best way to make a blood artist deck is through mono black control. check out my mono black control deck on my profile. i got the idea from the mono black deck that got 14th in pro tour gatecrash, but i put my own spin on it. its won 3 tournaments now.

the key is removal. just think about an aggro deck. they turn 1 a champion of the parish and u tragic slip it on your turn 1. that instantly takes away over half of the damage that u would take within the first 4 turns. on turn 2 and 3 u cast a blood artist. on turn 4, your opponent will have at about 4 creatures. if u cast mutilate, assuming your opponent has 4 creatures, they will lose 12 life and youll gain 12 life. another upside to that is that they're probably topdecking by that time and if theyre not, they probably have 1 creature in hand at the most. as much removal as there is in the deck, that one creature, no matter what creature it is wont do them any good. the biggest assets that aggro decks have against control decks are cards that save their creatures. like golgari charm and boros charm. the thing about mono black control is that both of the board wipes that are available dodge indestructibility and regeneration. the way mono black control wins is that it gets your opponent to use all of their cards and resort to hoping to draw an answer, while u gain tons of card advantage. once that happens, u can do what u want. gloom surgeon, crypt ghast, and griselbrand are all creatures that can attack. also, crypt ghast helps kill them quicker with extort, and once u start attaking with griselbrand u will have a high life total. u can use him to draw a handful of cards and with crypt ghast producing mana, u can end the game in one turn. example. lets just assume that the opponent has 20 life. u attack for 7 with griselbrand. draw 14 cards. u will have enough mana to cast 2 blood artists and mutilate. depending on what u already have and what your opponent has, that could be the end of the game. u should try playing mono black. it wins and its fairly budget.

Well that will officially changed my deck idea. Actually, I thank you for saying such words because I'm sick of having to run 2+ colors and then I have to go get shock lands. So thanks a lot! :D

If I were you, I would take out Griselbrand and put in two Demon of Death's Gate, because you can play him by paying 6 life and then sacrificing 3 creatures, which is good with Blood Artist to sacrifice them, and then you can get out a 9/9 early game. Other than that, cool deck.
