Deck Description

This deck was built to fully utilize Jace, Vryn's Prodigy and also built in anticipation of a widespread adoption of Languish as the go-to sweeper for Abzan and UB control variants. Jace is a discard outlet to get a powerful creature in the graveyard, loot for value, or flip to snap back either a milled Necromantic Summons or a removal spell. Jace can also be a body like Elvish Mystic and Satyr Wayfinder to hold Nighthowler. Instead of a value-oriented Sidisi Whip deck, this deck looks to play like a classic discard-outlet style Reanimator deck. You ideally want to get a Nighthowler on a Sagu Mauler or Den Protector and hit for huge chunks of damage.

***Changes and other possible additions will be listed in Comments section***

How to Play

This deck should be pretty straightforward to play. You want to get creatures in the graveyard and get them out with Necromantic Summons. Satyr Wayfinder and Commune with the Gods fill the graveyard quickly. Jace, Vryn's Prodigy and Sultai Charm allow you to discard large creatures directly from your hand. Currently in standard, there are not many creatures powerful enough to win the game on their own. Nighthowler and Den Protector are a known combo for large, unblockable attacks. Gaea's Revenge reanimated off a Necromantic Summons with spell mastery becomes a hasty and untouchable 10/7. Sagu Mauler becomes an 8/8 Trample. Elvish Mystics, Jaces, and Wayfinders are all bodies for Nighthowler as well. Jace's +1 ability shouldn't be thought of as strictly defensive, but to help enable attacks in cluttered board states, making double blocks unfavorable in those situations. Don't hesitate to use that ability to play around versatile spells in the format like Dromoka's Command and Abzan charm, which function as combat tricks. This deck seeks to spend early turns getting a hard-to-deal-with fatty in play and attack every turn after, aggressively.

*Rogue's Passage as 1-of recently added. Great way to push through a Nighthowler threat. Non-bo with Gaea's Revenge, but I think it can allow for wins that no other card can.

**Sultai Charm is expected to be a house in this deck and to be more powerful in the new standard format. The enchantment removal hits Courser, Starfield (if a real deck), Thopter Spy Network, etc. The artifact removal can kill Hangarback Walker before it gets out of hand. Its Ultimate Price mode can be a liability, but its ability to loot 6-7 CMC creatures is what makes it the synergistic choice for this deck.

***Another overlooked but powerful format interaction is the ability to Thoughtseize an Atarka or Siege Rhino and cast Necromantic Summons on your opponent's creatures in graveyards.

Deck discussion for Sultai Reanimator

If anybody is looking or interested in possible additions/changes, I think there are possibilities.

-- Soul of Innistrad/Soul of New Phyrexia as possible 1-ofs to mill over. Their abilities are great from the graveyard and are possible targets to reainmate, thought Soul of New Phyrexia does seems potentially better in a Nighthowler deck, since keeping creatures in the graveyard is great, giving permanents indestructible for a turn is incredibly powerful vs control, Trample makes it better with Nighthowler, and dodges opposing Sultai Charms and Ultimate Prices should they become prevalent.
-Whip of Erebos may just be weak in a deck that is more dedicated to reanimating a threat that sticks or building a colossal Nighthowler attacker than playing value creatures that give powerful effects.
-- 1-of Gilt-Lead Winnower is also a powerful body to hold Nighthowler, adds to the removal suite, solid with Whip.
-- Commune with the Gods vs Gather the Pack: Whip is so powerful in past iterations of these archetypes that being able to dig for it seems more powerful than the Spell Mastery upside on Gather. However, if Whip leaves the deck, Gather the Pack is clearly a better choice.

If anyone is interested in helping with the evolution of this deck, I'd love other recommendations for the deck as a whole and specifically suggestions as to what the best targets are for singular reanimation effects in standard. Atarka was a consideration, but I think cards that add tokens (Hornet Queen) or are very hard to deal with (Sagu Mauler and Gaea's Revenge) are towards the top of my list, especially since Nighthowler + Mauler seems nearly unbeatable.
